So, when is the best time to visit the Cape Winelands?

If you're planning a day in Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, there's a good chance you've wondered about this.

My personal pick? February to April. 🍇☀️

This is when the Winelands can be particularly special, with warm days, beautiful vineyards and harvest activity taking place across parts of the region.

But honestly, every season has its charm.

☀️ Summer is perfect for long lunches outdoors.

🍇 Late summer brings the excitement of harvest.

🍂 Autumn brings cooler days and beautiful changing colours.

🌧️ Winter is quieter, greener and perfect for slowing down over good food and w**e.

🌱 Spring brings fresh colour and increasingly warm days.

And here's our advice as a local operator: don't try to visit every w**e estate in one day.

Two or three well-chosen stops, a good lunch and enough time to enjoy the scenery will usually make for a far better day than rushing between five or six estates.

There’s something wonderfully charming about watching African penguins go about their day at Boulders Beach. Waddling across the sand, heading for the water, and seemingly completely unbothered by the people watching them.
And then there’s the backdrop: granite boulders, turquoise water and the mountains of the Cape Peninsula. Not a bad office for a penguin.
