Oudtshoorn, nestled in the heart of South Africa’s Klein Karoo region, is an exceptional winter holiday destination that offers a perfect blend of mild weather, stunning landscapes, and unique cultural experiences. With its dry, sunny climate and cool, crisp mornings, winter in Oudtshoorn is ideal for outdoor exploration without the intense heat of summer.

One of Oudtshoorn’s main attractions is the world-renowned Cango Caves, a spectacular underground wonder filled with dramatic limestone formations. In winter, the caves remain a comfortable temperature, making them ideal to explore during the cooler months. Adventure seekers can also enjoy ostrich farm tours, which are both educational and entertaining, offering insight into the region’s ostrich farming heritage.

Nature lovers will appreciate the scenic drives through the Swartberg Pass, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its breathtaking views and rugged beauty. The pass is especially enchanting in winter, when occasional light snow dusts the mountaintops. With nature all around us, we have many wildlife experiences to enjoy in the region.

Oudtshoorn also offers charming local hospitality, with cozy guesthouses and farm stays that often feature fireplaces, hearty Karoo cuisine, and warm local wine. The town’s relaxed pace and friendly atmosphere make it an ideal winter escape from the city.

Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or cultural discovery, Oudtshoorn delivers a memorable winter family holiday experience with its unique blend of natural beauty, history, and small-town charm.

CAPETOWN REMOTE WORKING CAMPAIGN
“I am excited to launch the Digital Nomad Remote Working campaign for Cape Town. We are seeing innovation within the Tourism sector to accommodate the changed behaviour of remote working by offering affordable long-term stays including other benefits required to work remotely. Cape Town is rated amongst the best Remote Working destinations in the world. We will roll out an extensive marketing campaign through the City’s Enterprise and Investment Department together with Cape Town Tourism by amplifying the remote work opportunity in all our international key source markets as well as domestic markets. With people working from home during this pandemic, this concept has become a much-needed escape and great opportunity to take work on a holiday. Digital nomads are a new kind of tourist that will benefit our visitor economy. This will help with economic recovery and readiness as we build back better particularly in the hard-hit tourism and hospitality sectors,” says Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Opportunities at the City of Cape Town.
ALL ABOUT THE ATMOSPHERE
Cape Town came in at number 42 on the list of 50 best places for remote working. “Despite having a few drawbacks, Cape Town boasts an incredibly connected expat and digital nomad scene from all corners of the globe.”
The Mother City’s incredible scenery, however, is a drawcard for many. “Situated right on the water, surrounded by mountains and colourful markets and quirky neighbourhoods, Cape Town is all about the atmosphere.”
The downsides include internet connectivity and safety concerns. Cape Town Tourism has partnered with the safety app Namola to give visitors the assistance they need at the push of a button. Namola is an app that pinpoints your location, immediately gives you an emergency operator to talk to, and gets you the help you need and does so speedily.
