Last Thursday we stepped back in time and into a world of hidden doors, candlelit corners, and seriously good cocktails 🍸✨

The Cocktail & Speakeasy Tour with Matt from is not your average night out — it’s a full-on experience. Think secret bars tucked behind unmarked entrances, stories that bring the city’s past to life, and expertly crafted drinks you’d never find on your own.

Perfect for something different pre dinner. If you love good drinks, hidden gems, and a touch of mystery — this one’s a must 🖤 Thank you Matt for sharing this experience with us.

Our traditional Japanese tea ceremony: called chanoyu or sadō (“the Way of Tea”) It is a highly ritualized practice centered on preparing and serving matcha (powdered green tea).

🍵 What Happened at our Tea Ceremony
1. Preparation of the tea room – Minimalist space, often with a scroll and seasonal flowers.
2. Purification – Host cleans the tea utensils with deliberate, graceful movements.
3. Serving matcha – Tea is whisked with a bamboo whisk (chasen) and served in handmade bowls.
4. Receiving the tea – Guests bow, rotate the bowl, drink quietly, and admire the craftsmanship.
5. Silent appreciation – Attention to seasonality, textures, sounds, and calm presence.

The tea ceremony teaches mindfulness, etiquette, and an appreciation for small, intentional moments—turning a simple cup of tea into a meditative experience.

One of the many special moments experienced in Japan was spending time with the most beautiful humble man, Takeshi, who still practices the ancient art of Katagami. Traditional Japanese hand cut Paper stencils used for over 1000 years to dye intricate patterns onto fabrics particularly Kimonos. The precision that goes into his work was mind blowing.
We got to take some of his work home which will hang on our walls and remind us of this special day.

Kyoto preserves traditional Japan: tea ceremonies, kimono culture, Zen gardens, geisha districts, and wooden townhouses. It feels lived-in and authentic.
