Big cheers to Cape Town’s craft beer scene! 🍻🏆

After hearing that “Funky Monks” beer just brought home the big one — Best Beer in Africa 🍺🙌 — along with three gold medals and two silvers at the 2026 African Beer Cup, outperforming more than 200 entries… I knew it was only fitting to take Kev out for beers, burgers & ribs! 😍

“Funky Monks,” brewed by Woodstock Brewery in Cape Town, has now scooped up 7 awards this year alone! 🏆🍺🍺🍺🍺

These are just some of the whimsical graffiti statements splashed across the walls of the newly opened “Tintswalo Summer House” — a place that absolutely took my breath away.
Arriving for a ladies lunch and hotel tour, we were welcomed with an Aperol Spritz in hand, and from that moment on it felt as though we had stepped straight into Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We wandered around in complete awe, like excited little girls in seventh heaven, soaking in every beautiful detail.
The decor is every woman’s dream — happy colours, gorgeous fabrics, stylish furniture, lush indoor plants, and oversized shaded umbrellas that make you feel as though you’ve wandered onto the set of Bridgerton. Every corner feels playful, luxurious, and thoughtfully curated.
And then the pool…�“Come on in hot stuff” written across the bottom of the rectangular swimming pool, surrounded by loungers so comfortable you never want to leave.

A hotel filled with personality, humour, colour, and charm — the kind of place that makes you smile the entire time you’re there. Especially with every room looking out across the breathtaking False Bay coastline, and only a 10-minute stroll from the African penguins at Boulders Beach.

Even though it’s the start of winter in Cape Town, we have had some magnificent sunny days to enjoy the glorious Table Mountain, and the magnificent coastal drive. From a puff adder snake slithering through the fynbos, to a tiny field mouse darting about … today’s Peninsula tour felt like a full African wildlife documentary unfolding before our eyes!
We spotted dassies basking on the rocks, penguins, baboons, playful seals, ostriches roaming wild, and endless birdlife from seagulls to cormorants soaring along the coastline. Even a few black lizards made an appearance!

One of the absolute highlights was seeing mountain zebra, the graceful blue crane bird, and bontebok — such beautiful reminders of the incredible diversity we have here in South Africa.

All this while touring in ONE DAY with lovely guests visiting from the UK, celebrating their wedding anniversary ❤️ What a special way to celebrate — surrounded by dramatic scenery, ocean air, and unforgettable wildlife encounters on the Cape Peninsula. Contact Just Mich Tours for more details.

All revved up! heading off to do some sight inspections & discover more of the fun hidden gems in The Cape that never cease to amaze me!
Feeling totally energised after Pilates, it seemed only fitting that my first stop was “Revved Up” coffee shop — set inside a motorcycle showroom, which made the whole experience even cooler 🏍️☕️
Next stop was the new deli in the colourful Bo-Kaap — absolutely adorable, filled with books & cosy corners. Best of all… they serve bobotie. I headed to Mouille Point & hired an electric scooter for R250 an hour. What an absolute blast! I honestly didn’t want to get off 🤣
On the way home I grabbed a coffee at Ground Art Caffe on Strand Street. And then, because I simply can’t help myself, I took the Roodebloem turn-off & popped into Design Afrika to feast my eyes on all the beautiful colourful basketware & African craftsmanship.
