“This was our second trip with Planet Africa Safaris. Erica planned a flawless trip for us to Botswana and Namibia. From the moment we landed in Johannesburg until the day we left, everything was perfect. Our first night in Johannesburg, we stayed at the Peech Hotel, a very quaint boutique hotel. From there, we flew into Maun, then into Machaba Camp. Machaba had a more rustic feeling to the camp, still very luxurious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. One of the people we were traveling with had food allergies, and for every meal, they had cooked separate meals just for him. Our guide was very knowledgeable, tracking a leopard and a pack of wild dogs. Night drives and mokoro safaris were highlights at Machaba. Our next camp was Kunana in a different part of the Okavango Delta. It was newly renovated and a little more upscale than Machaba. The tents were more like structures. They all overlooked the bush where you could see elephants and other animals. The food was very good, and one night dinner was dedicated to Botswana food. Our guide was also very knowledgeable. Our daughter and her boyfriend slept out in the sleepout tent under the stars. Some of the highlights at Kunana were the walking safari, mokoro safari, sundowner drives, and all the baby lion cubs we saw! Our next stop was the Shipwreck Lodge on the Skeleton Coast. Flying into the coast was an experience we will not forget; landing on the sand was incredible! Our guide was amazing!!!! He picked us up from the landing strip, and our first stop was at the seal colony, over 3 miles of seals! The rooms at the lodge were so cool, each being representative of a shipwreck. You could hear the ocean in the distance. It was absolutely beautiful. We did the Hoarusib River drive, driving on the dry river bed. We rode the sand dunes on ATVs and then went sandboarding. We could have spent all day sandboarding. It is an absolute must! Our guide was hysterical, cheering us on every time we did it! Our final stop in Namibia was Sossusvlei. From Shipwreck lodge to Little Kulala Camp, we had an aerial tour of the Skeleton Coast, viewing the shipwrecks along the coast as well as the sand dunes of the desert. Some of our party climbed “Big Daddy”, the tallest sand dune in Sossusvlei. Seeing the petrified trees in Deadvlei was very cool too. The highlight at this camp was definitely the hot air balloon ride. Seeing the desert from above was incredibly beautiful and an experience we will never forget!” – Denise A (dalessandra1967) on TripAdvisor
