From 6am on 27 September to 6am on 28 September, Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida observe Nyepi Segara/Nyepi Laut.

It is one of the most important days in the local calendar, a sacred day dedicated to honouring the sea and the relationship between the island community and the ocean that surrounds and sustains it. Temple celebrations will be upheld.

No sea activity for 24 hours, no boats, fishing, surfing, snorkelling, swimming or any activities in the sea. This includes no ferries from mainland Bali to the islands.

This is a sacred local tradition, not simply a day when the ocean is closed. Let the people of the Nusa Islands celebrate this special day.
