We would like to inform you that the Tanzanian government has officially introduced a new mandatory travel insurance for all foreign visitors entering the country.

As of 1st October 2026, all foreign visitors entering Mainland Tanzania will be required to hold a valid inbound travel insurance policy.

Key details:

The insurance costs US$44 per traveller and is valid for 92 days, including multiple entries into
Mainland Tanzania.

It covers emergency medical treatment, emergency medical evacuation,emergency repatriation, and loss of luggage.

Which insurance to purchase:

There are now two dedicated insurance platforms, depending on where your clients first arrive in
Tanzania:

If your clients arrive in Mainland Tanzania first:

Please note that both policies cover the entire country (Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar), so there is
no need to purchase both if your guests are visiting both destinations.
