Thula Lula(Quiet and Easy in Zulu and Xhosa) is a South African business specializing in electric bicycle conversions. We offer a range of motors and batteries to convert most bikes into electric transport (30-40 kms/hour, 2+ hours). These bikes can be applied in the tourist and security ind

ustries, but more significantly, they offer an alternative form of short distance commuting, as well as public transport connections. These are sourced mostly through an expanding number of participating dealers. Our website has additional information and video links on the conversion process with our eventual goal to offer solar charging systems as well. Petrol has passed our salary increases long ago. Now we finally have an alternative. Ride the Commuter bike to the nearest public transport, fold it up and take it to town (trains allow fold ups), Then ride the remaining distance in comfort. You can park this anywhere, including your office.

We just had a great time at the Design Indaba where so many people expressed interest in the new Zero eBike. It is so cool looking and rides like a dream. You can get an eight speed internal gear system with an LED readout which includes regenerative braking. Give me a call if you are interested in a demo. Colors are green and silver.

I need another team member for the Red Hill Challenge - 29 kms on an electric bicycle to raise money for BEN (Bicycling Empowerment Network). The goal is R250 000 to provide bikes for underprivileged. How much pledge can the electric bikes bring in? Need to know soon!

South Africa's first Lithium Battery has now been produced at the University of the Western Cape and is now being tested for eBike use as an 8ah 36V system with a 500W motor. Yesterday we got 25 kms at an average speed of 32 km/hr from the first charge, which will increase with the next ten charges. More news to follow.
