Kutali Camp: Your Heart-of-the-Bush Home in Zambia
Kutali Camp is hands down one of our favorite places in the world. If you want to really get into the wild and capture those once-in-a-lifetime photos, this is the spot in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park.
Kutali sits out on Kulefu Island, which literally means ‘far away place.’ It’s right on the Zambezi River, tucked under those beautiful winterthorn trees. The elephants love it here, always coming in for the pods. Sometimes you don’t even have to leave camp to get those up-close moments with them. It’s wild and real.
There are only five tents here, so it’s never crowded. Just you, a few others, and the wild. The tents are proper - open-air bathrooms, beds with soft linen, and a bar under canvas where you can swap stories. Campfires crackling at night, good food, and the river right there. No noise, no fuss, just the bush and you.
The team here is special. Local guides who know every inch of the bush and camp staff who make you feel right at home. Whether you want to walk, drift quietly in a canoe, cruise the river, or head out on a game drive, they make it happen. Every day is different, depending on the animals and the light. If you come in October, you get that dry season magic - loads of game, predators on the move, and that golden light everyone dreams about.
For our Photographic Safari. Pair it with Chula Island Camp for contrasting habitats and the ultimate variety - all privately guided.
Only 4 spots left for 5–12 October. Ready for raw, soul-stirring Africa?
