South Africa's scenic beauty, magnificent outdoors, sunny climate, cultural diversity and reputation for delivering value for money have made it one of the world's fastest growing leisure – and business – travel destinations.
The country is highly diverse in terms of its climate, culture, tourist activities and infrastructure, catering for every tourism niche, from business, eco- and cultural tourism through to adventure, sport and paleo-tourism.

"South Africa's tourism industry continues to show good growth and we remain confident in the ongoing performance and sustainability of the sector," said Van Schalkwyk.

Big Hole !!
The Northern Cape is most famous for diamond mining. The province’s capital, Kimberley, is the home of Big Hole, the largest man made hand dug excavation in the world. When diamonds were discovered in the town hopeful prospectors flooded to the town, and the diamond industry was born.

The hill disappeared in a flurry of prospection, as picks and shovels yielded 2722 Kg of DIAMONDS.

The Eureka Diamond was the first diamond discovered in South Africa. It weighed 21.25 carats (4.250 g), and was found near Hopetown on the Orange River in 1867. The diamond, cut to a 10.73-carat (2.146 g) cushion-shaped brilliant, is currently on display at the Mine Museum in Kimberley.
