Waterfalls and sunrises. Table Mountain has some of the most incredible natural water systems in the world. The indigenous KhoiKhoi people called it “Camissa” which means “Place of sweet waters”.

Did you know: Cape Town’s rain water seeps through the Table Mountain sandstone and can take anything from days or years (even decades) to flow out of the mountain through something called an aquifer. This means that the water we drink off the mountain today, could be hundreds of years old. Rainwater that fell when no current human being was alive on earth. Incredible to think.

A sunset and a full moon rising, it was special! We don’t get to experience this very often. In fact, only 12 (sometimes 13) times every year.

The Klipspringer is a small, agile antelope renowned for its ability to traverse steep, rocky, mountainous terrain.

A few facts about them
• 43-60cm tall.
• 8-18kg in weight.
• Specialised hooves: small and round with a rubbery centre with hard rims, allowing them to walk on the tips of their hooves and giving them phenomenal grip and balance on smooth and rocky surfaces.
• Herbivores: leaves, flowers, fruits, succulents etc.
• Monogamous animals with a string pair bonds, rarely straying a few metres away from each other.
• Most active early morning and late afternoon, often resting in shade or basking in the sun on rocks during midday. They clearly like a tan.
