We started our tour of Sri Lanka at the peaceful Amaara Forrest Hotel. We had a V. I. P. welcome and my husband lit the wicks under the statue of a rooster. We were given a huge en-suite room which the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka had stayed in a month earlier. The hotel has a feeling of great peace and tranquility. The staff are warm and genuinely friendly. The food is all made on the premises and is superb. The highlight for me was the intimate dinner at the Tree Top Restaurant on the premises where we were personally serenaded by a violinist. I could have stayed forever.

The modern Amaara Sky Hotel in Kandy, Sri Lanka is beautifully and tastefully furnished; designed and decorated.The staff are warm and friendly and very welcoming. Your simplest wish is their command. The food is tasty and their Lime Soda as well as Hot Chocolate is a must. You're going to love their food especially if you like curry. I personally for medical reasons can't eat hot spicy food but was able to enjoy many other dishes of excellent food. The Amaara Sky Hotel is a must if you're in Kandy.

What a beautiful ride. We were on the train for approximately 5 hours. The landscape of Sri Lanka is mountainous with thick lush vegetation. I saw beautiful streams, waterfalls and rivers. There are hundreds of different varieties of plants and flowers. We went through a few tunnels too. The people are friendly and smile at you when you go by. The children wave and some of them are super excited when you wave back at them too.
