✨ In Loving Memory of Dame Jane Goodall (1934 – 2025) ✨

With deep sadness, we say goodbye to Dame Jane Goodall, who passed away peacefully at age 91 on October 1st while on a speaking tour in Los Angeles.

Jane dedicated her life to studying chimpanzees in Tanzania, forever changing how we understand animals, nature, and ourselves. She taught the world that chimpanzees have emotions, personalities, and cultures of their own.

Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and Roots & Shoots, she inspired generations to protect wildlife, restore habitats, and take action for a better planet.

Her legacy is one of compassion, courage, and hope. 🌍💚

Re-envisioned within an old, restored train, it pays homage to khaki-clad travellers who ventured into the reserve back in the day via rail. Thinking back to the time of James Stevenson-Hamilton (the original warden of the reserve), travelling into this wilderness wonderland in the early 1920s would entail an overnight stay in the exact place where the hotel is currently located.

Consisting of 31 rooms (24 carriage rooms and 7 in the nearby Bridge House), this luxury locomotive is tailored for all-out opulence and immersive comfort. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows add to the visceral experience. To make the most of the plummeting views, there’s a dedicated viewing deck and a swimming pool jutting out beyond the train tracks.

Paying homage to a bygone era, everything about this exquisite train-hotel is unparalleled and enchanting. It’s an experience that die-hard adventurers and dreamers cannot compare to anything else.

Mkhuze Game Reserve is definitely among the top ten birding spots in southern Africa. It boasts a list of over 450 species, a wide range of Habitats such as Acacia savannah, Mixed woodland, Sand forest, Riverine forest, Rivers, pans, grassland, cliffs and rocky ridges.

Luscious greens after good rain - animals few because there's water everywhere in the veld, but the birds entertained us.
