Africa will ruin a few things for you. And we're not even sorry. 😉🌍

Your standards for sunsets? Ruined. Your camera storage? Full. Your ability to enjoy an ordinary traffic jam after patiently waiting for an elephant to cross the road? Questionable. 😂 And don't even get us started on breakfast with a view, afternoons spent doing absolutely nothing beside the Zambezi, or the very real possibility of planning your next African holiday before you've finished the first.

The funny thing about Africa is that it's often the little moments that stay with you the longest. The ones you didn't plan, couldn't quite capture in a photograph and somehow end up talking about for years. At Highline Tours & Travel, we understand that these moments are just as important as the big-ticket experiences. It's why we pay attention to the little details, work with people who know their destinations and create journeys that leave room for those unexpected moments that make a holiday truly memorable.

The biggest problem? One trip rarely feels like enough. And if your clients come home already dreaming about their next African adventure, we'd say that's a pretty good sign we've done something right. 😉

There are few places where the way you travel makes quite as much difference to the experience as it does in Namibia.

For some travellers, the magic is in the open road. The endless horizons, unexpected stops, changing landscapes and the freedom to explore at their own pace. For others, its watching those same landscapes unfold from above, reaching remote lodges without spending hours behind the wheel. And sometimes? The answer is a little of both.

Self-drive isnt automatically the budget option, and fly-in isnt necessarily the better experience. It comes down to the time available, the route, the season and, most importantly, the person travelling. Because in Namibia, how you get there is just as important as where youre going.

Travel advisors, which experience would your clients prefer: the freedom of the open road or the convenience of flying between destinations? ✈️🚙

Africa. It’s a big answer to a very simple question. 🌍

Because “Africa” could mean waking up to elephants outside your room in Botswana, watching the sun rise over the Namib, getting wonderfully lost in the streets of Cape Town, drifting along the Zambezi, tasting your way through the Winelands or ending the journey barefoot beside the Indian Ocean.

That’s the thing about Africa. There isn’t one version of it, and there certainly isn’t one itinerary that fits everyone. So perhaps the better question isn’t where do you want to go next? It’s what do you want your next journey to feel like?

When we think about ending an African journey on the Indian Ocean, it’s easy to default to the familiar. But the coastline and islands surrounding Africa offer very different ways to finish a trip.

Mozambique can take travellers from bush to beach while keeping the journey distinctly African. Zanzibar combines the coast with Swahili culture and history. Madagascar offers something altogether more adventurous and unexpected, while the Seychelles can become a destination in its own right.

The important part is that these aren’t interchangeable beach add-ons. The right Indian Ocean extension depends on the journey before it, the available connections, the time your clients have, and whether they’re looking for culture, adventure, seclusion or simply a spectacular stretch of sand.

Don’t just add a beach. Choose the coast that belongs with the journey. 🌊

Kinda chic to do Africa differently. 🌍

Breakfast in the bush, floating above the desert, sleeping above a waterhole and dining under an endless African sky. Sometimes it’s not just where you travel, but the experiences along the way that make a journey unforgettable.

Africa has a way of turning the extraordinary into just another day on holiday. And somehow, we think that’s kinda chic. 😉

Good itineraries don't start with a Google search. They start with knowing the destination, the people and the products behind it.

Earlier this month, our FIT Manager, Annelie Botes, represented Highline Tours & Travel at the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, bringing together tourism businesses, buyers and industry partners from across the region and beyond.

For us, events like these are about far more than collecting brochures. They're an opportunity to reconnect with existing partners, meet new suppliers, discover what's changing on the ground and continue building the relationships that sit behind the itineraries we create for our travel partners.

And Zimbabwe deserves that attention. There is considerably more to the destination than Victoria Falls alone, and having current, first-hand destination and product knowledge helps us look beyond the obvious when the right client and itinerary come along.

Because when you send an enquiry to us you're not simply accessing a booking system. You're accessing the relationships, knowledge and conversations happening behind the scenes too.

Victoria Falls: Zimbabwe side or Zambia side? 🌊

It’s one of those questions that sounds as though it should have a very simple answer. In reality, the right choice depends far more on the traveller than on which side someone declares “better.”

The time of year matters. The views change with the water levels. Certain experiences, such as Devil’s Pool, are accessed from Zambia and are seasonal. The style of property your client wants can influence the decision, and where they’re travelling next can make one side far more practical for the overall itinerary.

And sometimes, they don’t need to choose at all. Depending on passport and visa requirements, clients can stay on one side and cross the border to experience the Falls from the other perspective too.

Don’t choose a side in isolation. Look at the season, the views, the experiences, the property and the wider journey, then choose the side that makes the most sense for that client.

They could arrive on time, step into better light, wait until the cameras are ready and, while they’re at it, perhaps give us one more roar for the road. But thankfully, that’s not how safari works.

Wildlife doesn’t follow an itinerary. It doesn’t care that it’s your client’s last game drive, that someone was changing lenses at exactly the wrong moment, or that the lion they’ve waited an hour for has chosen this particular morning for a very long nap.

And that unpredictability is exactly what makes a sighting feel so extraordinary when it happens. They don’t owe us a sighting, a photograph, a performance, or anything at all. They’re wild. We’re simply lucky enough to be there when they let us into their world for a little while.

How do you describe Africa to someone who hasn’t experienced it yet?

It’s a difficult question, because Africa is rarely just one thing. It can make you feel wonderfully small beneath an endless sky, completely still as an elephant walks past, or very far from home and somehow completely at home at the same time.

It’s the early mornings you thought you’d hate waking up for. The landscapes that photographs never quite capture. The people you meet along the way. The unexpected moments that become the stories you tell long after you’ve returned home.

We tried to describe what travelling through Africa feels like in just a few words. We could probably have chosen seventy.

Cape Town has a funny way of making “we should have stayed another night” one of the most common things travellers say. 🌊

On paper, two nights in Cape Town can look perfectly reasonable. Then you start adding Table Mountain, the Cape Peninsula, incredible restaurants, neighbourhoods worth exploring and perhaps a little time to simply enjoy one of the world's most beautiful cities… and suddenly those two nights feel very short.

That's why we often encourage travel advisors to consider three nights rather than two. Not because we're trying to squeeze another hotel night into the itinerary, but because there is a big difference between seeing Cape Town and actually having time to enjoy it.

Sometimes the best itinerary upgrade isn't a more expensive hotel or another experience. It's simply another day.
