We have to admit, South Africans have a rather interesting relationship with the English language.
A robot has nothing to do with artificial intelligence, now now is not quite as urgent as it sounds, and lekker somehow manages to describe everything from a great meal to a beautiful day in the Cape Winelands.
They’re the little words and expressions your clients will hear along the way, and part of the fun of travelling somewhere new is getting to know the language that makes a destination feel like home. So, we’ve put together a quick introduction to speaking South African: what the words mean, how to pronounce them and, most importantly, when to use them.
By the end, your clients will be turning left at robots, calling the Cape Winelands lekker and discovering that “now now” may require just a little patience.
