Nobody tells you that Victoria Falls looks completely different depending on the month you book 👇
💦 HIGH WATER · peaks around April
Roughly 500 million litres a minute. Extraordinary power, and for a lot of people that’s exactly what they came for. The trade-off is spray — heavy enough that views are often obscured, and plenty of visitors go home with photos of mist.
🪨 LOW WATER · roughly August to December
Less spray, and you finally see it properly — the rock face, the separate cascades, the full structure of the gorge.
⭐ WHAT LOW WATER OPENS UP
• Devil’s Pool — the rock pool right on the edge of the Falls. Usually runs from around mid-September through to December.
• When levels are too high for Devil’s Pool, Angel’s Pool runs instead — same falls, different section, different angle.
🗓 WE RUN VIC FALLS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
September and December are the departures currently open — low water, best unobstructed views, Devil’s Pool.
We also run January, March, Easter and June departures. Those fall in the higher-water months, so you get the thunder and the spray instead of the clear views. Different trip, equally worth doing.
Message us and we’ll tell you which one suits what you’re after.
⚠️ Being straight with you: the river decides. Water levels shift year to year, conditions are seasonal, and they can change without notice — that applies to both the views and to Devil’s Pool. Nothing is guaranteed until you’re standing there. What we can say is that low water season puts the odds firmly in your favour.
