WORLD CANCER DAY
It’s the word we fear most but for some of us, it’s a reality. This photo was taken two years after Bo’s last round of chemotherapy.
Nobody’s child should have the label ‘cancer’ attached to them, especially at 7 months old. Bo was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of eye cancer, retinoblastoma, in August 2023. Ten days later she had her right eye removed, and a week after that a torturous 16 rounds of chemotherapy. Today she gets checked under anesthetic every 3 months to ensure the tumors in her remaining eye stay dormant. This is our reality until she reaches early adulthood and stops growing.
The best weapon we have against cancer is EDUCATION. If you have a gut feeling your child has an issue, see a doctor. We noticed a ‘glow’ in her right eye and followed our intuition. If you suspect anything, educate yourself! is an international organisation dedicated to education around Retinoblastoma.
We are grateful to our tribe, who continue to love and support us on this journey.
