Every year on 18 July, people across South Africa and around the world celebrate Mandela Day by dedicating 67 minutes to making a positive difference in the lives of others. These 67 minutes honour the 67 years that Nelson Mandela devoted to public service, reminding us that even the smallest act of kindness can leave a lasting impact.
This year, whilst each member of the Inspirations Travel & Tours family will be spending Mandela Day giving back within their own families and communities, we also wanted to make a meaningful contribution together as a company.
We are proud to support the Old Mushroom Farm Community in Howick, KwaZulu-Natal, through the donation of 15 indigenous trees, made possible in partnership with our Corporate Social Investment partner, Food & Trees for Africa.
The Old Mushroom Farm is an inspiring example of what can be achieved when a community comes together. Once a commercial mushroom farm, it has been transformed into a thriving environmental and social initiative, where indigenous trees, fruit trees and vegetable gardens help restore the landscape whilst providing fresh produce for vulnerable families. Surplus harvests are turned into homemade products, creating opportunities for income generation and strengthening local food security.
Every tree planted today represents hope for tomorrow. It supports biodiversity, improves the environment, provides shade for future generations and stands as a lasting reminder that meaningful change often begins with a simple act of generosity.
At Inspirations Travel & Tours, we are fortunate to work in an industry centred on people, cultures and the natural world. Supporting initiatives like this reflects the values we strive to uphold every day.
This Mandela Day, we encourage everyone to find their own way to make a difference. Together, our collective acts of kindness can create a lasting impact.
Happy Mandela Day.
