And just like that, the Cape Country Routes Amazing Race came to an end last night… what an adventure it was!.

A heartfelt thank you to Anke from Cape Country Routes, Stuart from Tread Lite 4x4, and every property and experience along the way for their incredible generosity and warm hospitality over the past five days.

From mountain passes to coastal villages, wine valleys to wide open Karoo landscapes… it’s been an unforgettable journey filled with laughter, surprises, and moments that will stay with us long after the finish line.

Final official day of the Cape Country Routes Amazing Race… and it delivered right to the end.

The morning started at Hermanus Boutique Guest House before diving straight into an icy wake-up call… a cold plunge in the Bot River Estuary with Wild Wellness. 13° water, 12° air… no easing into that one.

After a well-earned breakfast, the journey continued into the Elgin Valley for an adrenaline-filled experience with Cape Canopy Tours. With the weather turning, it became a full adventure… ziplining between mountain platforms in the rain and wind, surrounded by dramatic views.

From there, it was back on the road to Cape Town, checking in at Hippo Boutique Hotel where things took a creative turn. A hands-on wire craft session with local artist Andrew Dombuleni had everyone shaping their own hippo souvenirs… complete with very expressive tongues.

Now, the teams have swapped race mode for “therapy” at Therapy Restaurant… a fitting way to close off the final day.

Cold plunges, mountain ziplines, creativity, and a final push to the finish… the perfect ending to an unforgettable journey. 🚙✨

Day 4 of the Cape Country Routes Amazing Race and the coast brought a little bit of everything.

The day began with a sunrise over the Indian Ocean in Arniston, followed by a special moment meeting local fisherman Timothy, adding a real sense of place to the morning.

From there, it was a scenic walk guided by the one and only Aunty Barbs from the Arniston Spa Hotel, out to the impressive Waenhuiskrans Cave, carved into the coastline and well worth the effort to reach.

The journey continued onwards to Stanford for a relaxed lunch stop, before heading into Hermanus… where the weather had other plans.

With wind and rain making their presence known, the afternoon shifted gears into a drive-through experience with Wild Wellness, embracing the moody coastal atmosphere instead.

The day wrapped up on a cosy note with dinner at Dutchies Restaurant, the perfect setting to warm up and reflect on another full and memorable day on the road.
Sunrise swims, sea caves, stormy skies and seaside comfort… Day 4 kept everyone on their toes. 🌊✨

Day 3 of the Cape Country Routes Amazing Race and things took a refreshing turn… quite literally.

The day began in the dramatic Tradouw Pass with an early morning cold plunge in a rock pool… not for the faint-hearted, but the ultimate wake-up call.

From there, the pace softened with a beautifully grounding herbal plant walk and tea tasting at Yamu, offering a moment to slow down and connect with the landscape in a different way.

The journey continued towards the coast with a light lunch at Agulhas Country Lodge, before reaching the iconic Cape Agulhas… a bucket list moment standing at the southernmost tip of the continent where two oceans meet.

By late afternoon, it was time to check in at Arniston Spa Hotel and unwind before heading out to explore the historic fishing village of Kassiesbaai. The day ended perfectly with sundowners at Mien's Tea Garden, soaking in the coastal charm and golden evening light.

From icy plunges to ocean horizons, Day 3 delivered contrast, connection, and a few unforgettable moments along the way. 🌊✨

Day 2 of the Cape Country Routes Amazing Race and the adventure is picking up pace.

Leaving Stellenbosch behind, the journey headed into the Breede River Valley with a stop in Robertson for a relaxed wine pairing at Four Cousins Wine Estate… a strong start to the day.

From there, it was on to Montagu for a visit to the charming Montagu Country Hotel, followed by a slightly more active exploration of the town on upcycled bikes with Flying Feet. Think a bit of wobbling, a lot of laughs, and plenty of character.

Just to keep things interesting, the afternoon included a classic Cadillac cruise through the streets of Montagu… because this race doesn’t do ordinary.

The day ended in Barrydale with check-in at the colourful Karoo Art Hotel. A standout moment was the pre-dinner bioscope experience hosted by owner Rick, setting the tone for a delicious evening to follow.

From wine valleys to Karoo charm, Day 2 delivered another memorable chapter… and there’s still plenty more to come. 🚙✨

Day 1 of the Cape Country Routes Amazing Race has officially kicked off, and it’s safe to say… the game is on.

Representing Inspirations Travel & Tours, Chantal, Product & Proposals Specialist, has swapped her desk for adventure mode and is proudly taking part in the race.

Armed with curiosity, a competitive streak, and the keys to a very eye-catching Suzuki Jimny from Tread Lite 4x4 Hire she set off from Stellenbosch with absolutely no clue what the next five days have in store… which is exactly how she likes it.

The day delivered a little bit of everything. From charming visits to Eendracht Hotel and Evergreen Manor, to cruising through vineyards and historic streets on an e-bike adventure with Adventure Shop Stellenbosch , the pace was set early.

Of course, this is the Cape Winelands, so a stop at Lanzerac Wine Estate for a well-deserved tasting was non-negotiable, before rounding off the day with a delicious dinner at De Waterkant Restaurant.

Maps may be vague, clues may be questionable, but spirits are high and the Jimnys are ready. If Day 1 is anything to go by, this is going to be one unforgettable ride.

While Chantal and Birgit were immersed in the fast-paced energy of Speed Networking at WTM Africa, Craig, Director of Sales and Marketing, took a slightly different approach to starting the day.

Stepping out along Cape Town’s iconic Atlantic Seaboard promenade, he joined the very first Africa’s Eden Coffee Walk, hosted in partnership with SATSA and The Diamond Works Institute. With the ocean as a backdrop and a fresh coastal breeze in the air, it was a relaxed and refreshing way to connect, combining light conversation with a shared appreciation for African coffee.

A gentle start to the morning, and a reminder that some of the most meaningful connections happen just as naturally outside the conference halls as they do within them. ☕🌊

Our Director of Sales and Marketing, Craig Drysdale , is on the ground at ITB Berlin this week, spending time with both long-standing partners and exciting new contacts from across the industry. Alongside our wonderful German sales representative, Birgit Hüster, the two have been busy sharing stories from Southern Africa, exploring new opportunities, and strengthening the relationships that make what we do possible.

ITB is always a fantastic space to reconnect face to face, exchange ideas, and keep the inspiration for travel alive. We are grateful for the time spent with so many of our valued partners and look forward to welcoming even more travellers to our beautiful corner of the world. 🌍✨
