ANC Delegation Attempts to Climb Up KZN Tree House but Get Stung by Angry Bees
KZN – An official ANC fact-finding mission to inspect KwaZulu-Natal's now-famous viral tree house ended in chaos yesterday after a swarm of highly patriotic bees reportedly rejected the delegation's request to enter the structure.
Witnesses say President Cyril Ramaphosa had barely placed one foot on the homemade wooden ladder when an angry buzzing sound echoed through the tree.
At first, officials believed it was Eskom restoring electricity.
Seconds later, hundreds of bees emerged from the branches and launched what experts are calling the fastest cabinet reshuffle in South African history.
"Retreat! Retreat!" shouted one delegate, while attempting to outrun insects capable of flying at considerably higher speeds than government service delivery.
Fikile Mbalula was reportedly the first to abandon the mission.
"These are clearly opposition bees," he yelled while sprinting towards the convoy. "They're trying to destabilise democracy!"
Gwede Mantashe initially stood his ground before being stung on the forehead.
"I haven't seen this much public anger since the last election campaign," he admitted while frantically waving his ANC cap at the swarm.
According to eyewitnesses, President Ramaphosa tried calming the bees by promising to establish a Presidential Commission of Inquiry into why they were so upset.
The bees reportedly responded by appointing themselves as the commission's first witnesses.
Within seconds, the entire delegation was running in different directions, swatting the air and shouting instructions that nobody could hear over the sound of furious buzzing.
One nearby resident calmly watched the spectacle unfold.
"The bees have been living there longer than government has been promising to fix things," he shrugged. "They've become very protective of the property."
Environmental experts later suggested the bees may simply have been defending their home.
Political analysts, however, disagreed.
"The bees were probably worried the tree house would be declared a national project," one analyst explained. "Once that happens, nothing gets finished."
Following the embarrassing retreat, the ANC confirmed that all future inspections of the tree house would be conducted from a safe distance using binoculars, drones and, if necessary, Google Street View.
The bees have since declined to comment, saying they were far too busy minding their own beeswax.
