A front-row seat to the world-famous Sardine Run off South Africa’s Wild Coast—widely regarded as “The Greatest Shoal on Earth.”

Each winter, usually between May and July, billions of sardines migrate north from the cold waters off the Agulhas Bank in the Eastern Cape, hugging the coastline as they pass the Wild Coast and into KwaZulu-Natal, often reaching as far north as Durban, and in exceptional years even Richards Bay.

Their journey creates one of the most spectacular feeding frenzies on Earth. Massive bait balls attract thousands of common dolphins, Bryde’s whales, sharks, Cape gannets, seals, and occasionally orcas, all hunting together in an extraordinary display of nature’s power.
