Breaking Travel News: Ireland has lifted its travel restrictions for South African travellers as of 22 December. Travellers must fill out a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) before departure(https://bit.ly/30SXiG9).
Vaccinated or recovered travellers will need to produce a negative antigen test no more than 48 hours before arrival or a negative RT-PCR test no more than 72 hours before you arrive.
Non-vaccinated travellers will need to produce a negative RT-PCR test no more than 72 hours before arrival.
All passengers arriving in Ireland are now advised to conduct antigen testing on a daily basis for a period of 5 consecutive days commencing on day of arrival
Please note that: Only Rapid Antigen Tests which are listed on the common EU Rapid Antigen Test list are accepted.

Travel Information Update - DUBAI
UAE media are reporting that the UAE will receive tourists โ€œfrom all countriesโ€ fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the WHO with effect from tomorrow, August 30. Arriving vaccinated tourists will need to take a rapid PCR test on arrival in Dubai, before leaving the airport.

According to media in Dubai, this applies to travellers from countries such as South Africa, where travel to the UAE has previously been restricted or outright banned.

The news is derived from a joint statement of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority.

Passengers with tourist visas must take a mandatory rapid PCR test at the airport on arrival. The previous rules for unvaccinated travellers, including exempted categories, are reported to remain in place.

Incoming tourists will need to register their vaccination certificates on the ICA website or the Al Hosn app.

TRAVEL INFORMATION UPDATES - EMIRATES AIRLINES

Hot on the heels of the August 3 news that the UAE will allow South Africans to transit in Dubai comes the news that Emirates will lay on 18 flights a week from South Africa to Dubai.

The airline says by August 12 it will provide daily flights from Johannesburg (and double-daily from Johannesburg on four days of the week), four flights a week from Durban and three flights a week from Cape Town.

Travellers from South Africa are not required to be vaccinated, nor to take PCR tests for their transit through Dubai, but need to adhere to the visa, testing and vaccination requirements of the end destination.

Johannesburg, first frequency โ€“ starts August 6
Departs JNB at 19h10, and arrives in DXB at 05h25 the following day.
Departs DXB at 09h55 and arrives in JNB at 16h15.

These above flights are seven days a week.
Johannesburg, second frequency โ€“ starts August 11
Departs JNB at 11h55 and arrives in DXB at 00h55 the following day.
Departs DXB at 04h05 and arrives in JNB at 10h15.

These flights are on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

SOUTH AFRICA / UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: UAE lifts ban on South African transits (Travel update, 4 August 21)

The United Arab Emirates will tomorrow (August 5) lift a ban on fully vaccinated transits from South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Nepal.

Passengers travelling from these countries will be able to transit through UAE airports if they present a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure.

UAE departure airports will arrange separate lounges for transiting passengers, according to Reuters.

Travel Information - COSTA RICA: Costa Rica allows uninsured vaxxed tourists, minors

Beginning August 1, Costa Rica will allow tourists fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and minors to enter the country without travel insurance. This aims to increase tourist visitation and will take effect one year after the reopening of the countryโ€™s air border, according to Travel Agent Central.

The accepted vaccines will be: Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford/AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. The last dose of the vaccine must have been applied at least 14 days prior to arrival in Costa Rica. As proof, vaccination certificates and vaccination cards that contain at least the following information will be accepted.

In the case of US travellers, COVID-19 Vaccination Record Cards will be accepted.

Travel Info - 16 July 21 - MAURITIUS: Mauritius gears up for October full opening

Agents and operators globally are opening sales for Mauritius from October onwards in line with the islandโ€™s announcement that Phase Two of its reopening, which takes place on October 1, will allow vaccinated travellers to enter Mauritius, and move freely on the island.

From yesterday (July 15) until September 30, Phase 1 allows vaccinated international visitors to enter the island and enjoy a 14-day โ€˜resort bubbleโ€™ vacation, in which they may enjoy the facilities of the resort but not leave the resort. A negative PCR test result is required before boarding on the outward journey.

Tourism Update approached Chief Finance and Admin Officer for Air Mauritius South Africa, Nooriena Davids, who said Air Mauritius inventory between South Africa and Mauritius was reflecting in the GDS from October onwards. However, Davids was also cautious about this date saying that the reopening of borders to travellers originating from South Africa would be dependent on local infection rates at the time and the progress of South Africaโ€™s vaccination programme.
