Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام built the Ka'bah as a rectangle.
When the Quraysh rebuilt it before Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ mission, they didn't have enough halal funds to complete the original footprint.

Financial constraints created the cube shape we see today. That Hatim area we talked about earlier? That's what they had to leave out.

Most pilgrims see the main door. Very few know about the second one.

Bab al-Tawbah, the Door of Repentance, is a hidden golden door inside the Ka'bah. Same magnificent craftsmanship as the main entrance, but with a different purpose: it's the only access to the roof of the House of Allah ﷻ.

This isn't just architectural beauty. It's a functional passage that enables essential traditions like the annual Kiswa change and maintaining the Mizab al-Rahma.
