The Fairmont GT isa rare Ford with roots in South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. These were originally assembled in South Africa from knock-down kits to get them in the country. They usually featured the Rally Pack that gave the car stainless steel hubcaps, GT stripes, and the choice of a 4-speed manual or automatic transmission - paired with the 351 CU 4V motor to give it some great get up and go.
In stock trim, these cars had front brakes that used a 286 mm ventilated discs up front with 254 mm drums taking up the rear. Thatโs not a lot of braking power for a heavy steel-bodied muscle car, and getting hold of replacement parts is as much of a nightmare as youโd imagine.
Vari Racing is here to save classic car owners with replacement kits that offer up better clamping power over bigger discs. We can tailor something for you, from 4-pot to 6-pot kits and bigger, if needed.
This GT received a complete upgrade with bigger discs and calipers up front, while the rear now features discs and calipers too, no more drums. Easier to service, easier to get pads and much easier on the eyes too, not to mention that braking distance changes from being measured in calendar months to seconds.
