My sobering thoughts ...
Two nights ago as i came up the rise, my lights caught a gorgeous male lion in the middle of the road. I took a photograph and then sat in darkness.....pondering many things as he breathed and stretched near me.

My first thought was concern for him... those lights he is staring at in the background, are community homestead lights. Only 800m away lies a fence separating him from poachers, TB, foot and mouth, communities and livestock. I wonder what he was thinking as he gazed ahead.....

The issues of Human Wildlife Conflict are mere metres and a rudimentary fence separates... The overwhelming consequences and responsibility on all of us are daunting, and although he gave me peace and stopped my frantic world for a moment in time, fed my soul being in his space, ultimately their lives are in our hands, and our devastating human-effect on nature.

Hluhluwe-Imfolozi....lucky enough to be 'my back garden' while taking my grandson for 'us time' in my special place....
Wildlife conservation hopefully built into the hearts of the young... ♡♡
