De Kelders and Franskraal communities are joined by Dyer Island Conservation Trust at three locations along our Gansbaai coastline. Join us with one hour of your time, have some fun and make a difference to our home. Bring ouma, oupa, your neighbours and all the kids.

The Dyer Island Conservation Trust, Marine Dynamics, Gansbaai Tourism, and members of the De Kelders Community are coming together in collaboration to make a positive impact on our local beaches and oceans.
The ocean connects us all, and every piece of litter removed from our shores helps protect marine life, coastal habitats, and our communities. This year’s theme encourages us to rethink our relationship with the ocean and become active guardians of its future.

MUNICIPALITY INVITES RESIDENTS TO HAVE THEIR SAY ON TOURISM

Overstrand Tourism has conducted two surveys which have now been completed - one targeting the tourism and hospitality sector, and another for non-tourism businesses.

The final survey - the Resident Tourism Survey - is now open.

As a resident, your lived experience is invaluable in shaping our tourism strategy.

This survey captures your views and daily realities of tourism in Overstrand. Your feedback will help guide how tourism is managed in our towns, supporting a balance between peak-season pressures and preserving the exceptional quality of life that makes the Overstrand unique.

The survey closes on 5 June 2026.

Here is a great opportunity for our tourism business owners to help the Overstrand Municipality improve their service delivery. Please see their media release and fill in the survey. Your input is valued.

Suppliers asked to share their experience with Overstrand Municipality

Overstrand Municipality wants to make it easier for businesses to work with us. We are running a short online survey to find out what challenges you face and how we can support our suppliers and service providers better.

Our goal is to understand the difficulties you experience when working with the Municipality, and to hear your suggestions on how we can improve our procurement and communication processes.

Whether you provide general goods, professional consulting services, construction work, or specialised services, your feedback is important. We would like to hear your thoughts on things like paperwork and database registration, communication with officials and how easy it is to find out about new quotes and tenders.

The survey also includes a section where suppliers can suggest topics they would like covered during the upcoming SCM Supplier Open Day. Let us know what training or information you need—whether it is help with Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration, understanding municipal procurement processes, handling tax and BEE compliance, or getting paid on time.

Your feedback will help us improve the way we work with businesses and service providers.

The deadline to complete the survey is 31 May 2026.

LEON KLUGE AND GROOTBOS BRING HOME THE GOLD TO SA AT THE CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW 2026!! AGAIN!
We are so incredibly proud of each and everyone on the SA team involved in this year's exhibition. Some say this is the best SA exhibition ever which is mind blowing considering how the previous exhibitions brought on goosebumps!
Leon Kluge, we are so incredibly humbled and proud of this incredible achievement. Your magic brought tears of wonder and pride. Truly a creation of love.

This year's display ‘LIFE AFTER FIRE’ showcased the diversity of South African flowers that appear after wildfires in the Cape region. Up to 20 000 stems of Protea cut flowers as well as thousands of burnt Protea branches were arranged to create a post fire landscape where bulbs and orchids from all regions of South Africa were on display. Artist Tristan Woudberg led a team to assemble a sculptural vortex of burnt material, including charred wood and burnt branches sourced from the remnants of the devastating fires which tore through the mountainous areas of the Western Cape last year. ‘Life After Fire’ is one of South Africa's biggest displays at the RHS Chelsea Flower and features a babbling ‘fonteintjie’ or natural stream complete with Disa orchids and carnivorous sundew plants. Other unique plants on display included the miniature star like flowers of Rhodohypoxis which hails from the high elevations of the Drakensberg.

IT'S A DOUBLE WIN - the SA team will also bring home the coveted 'Best Exhibit in the Great Pavilion'. This prestigious additional Gold Award endorses all the hard work and dedication that the team delivered. What an incredible achievement!
