Tierkop Peak – Outeniqua Mountains

Today’s hike was a tough one! 🤭 We chose the longer, more scenic route, and it was worth every step.

Every smile, every uphill climb, every downhill descent, and every conversation along the trail made the journey even more special.

Our group truly showed what they are made of today. Your determination, resilience, and team spirit were incredible. You are made of steel! Well done to each and every one of you. 💪

One last thing… I predicted we would complete the trail in 9 hours, but this amazing group finished it in just 7 hours! Hats off to all of you. 🙌

Thank you for another unforgettable day in the mountains. 🏔️

The day started off icy cold, but once we tackled the first climbs, we quickly began shedding layers to stay comfortable.

As we gained elevation, we were rewarded with breathtaking views of the valleys and beautiful fynbos. The mountains were still saturated from the last two storms, and it was wonderful to hear the river flowing again. Along the way, we crossed the river twice, taking off our shoes each time to wade through the icy water. In fact, this was the first time I’d seen this river flowing in nearly seven years.

To top it all off, I had the privilege of sharing the hike with an incredible group of people. Thank you all for making it such a memorable day on the trail.🥾🥾

Koumashoek, Circuit

For the first time I did this trail, the day was crystal clear—no rain, no mist, unlike my previous visits. Today was simply magical.

We were rewarded with endless views stretching from Oudtshoorn to Mossel Bay, deep valleys, beautiful fynbos, and an abundance of birdlife.

I knew the middle section would be overgrown, so we spent approximately 1 km bushwhacking before finally finding the trail again. What a relief! We were now down at the river, but there was still one mountain left to climb—and it was no easy task, especially with a long day already behind us.

At moments like these, there is only one thing to do: dig deep and never give up. Before you know it, you're standing on top, looking back with a deep sense of accomplishment and appreciation for what you have achieved.

Well done to every hiker today. You were an absolute dream team.
