Monday blues? Feeling a little stuck in the mud?
Just remember, your day could always be worse. These two incidents happened within a few hours of each other... but the show must go on! 🤣
Spot Tikka, my hunting dog, looking unimpressed that we’re wasting valuable hunting time 😅
Happy Monday everyone!

Kudu rut is in full swing on our side!
We've had some incredible luck with a number of outstanding bulls lately. Picking a favourite hardly seems fair since each one is special in its own right.
But if you had to choose, which grey ghost would be your favourite and why?

Another record for JP Kleinhans Safaris!
Brushing 55 inches, this incredible old sable bull is what dreams are made of.

Walking up to this bull took me straight back…1989 in Zim, hunting my first Sable with my dad. Those days sables were unaffordable. So what did my dad do? Brought a used 2.4 diesel Mercedes Benz engine over the border on the back of the Cruiser….traded it so his 14 year old son could hunt a sable!
This one’s a hell of a lot bigger… but it’s that same feeling that makes it priceless.

A record and full-circle moment I never could have imagined!

Wedding bells 🔔💍
A BIG congratulations to Jan and my daughter, Louise, on your marriage!
We wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness.
Natia and I loved being parents to our two kids…but man, are we counting our blessings now that we’re lucky enough to be parents to four (albeit adult😅) children! One big, happy family that we love so much! What a wonderful life this is🙌

Brian Urbanek and I have hunted many buffalo together, but this is by far the biggest one we’ve ever taken together.
What makes this bull even more special is the history behind the rifles:
I carried my John Wilkes that I inherited from my dad. This rifle has an incredible history of its own, built in 1909. Earlier this year, Brian bought his own John Wilkes, built in 1920.
Two classic John Wilkes Nitro Express rifles felt like the perfect tribute to such a magnificent buff!
Keep an eye out for the video footage from this safari soon. Our camera man is putting the final edits together over the next few days📸🙌

These 49” horns tell a story.
Not only is this sable massive, but the damage on his horn speaks to his temperament. Likely had a heavy run-in with another bull many years ago. A reminder of a a fight from his younger days…and the kind of bull he is.

Another great hunt, looks like this is the season of the sable!

Check out this massive Black Impala!

The impala rut has started and with it comes mating behaviour and territorial fights.
While this ram we encountered was absolutely huge, we found an even bigger one (B & W). Killed in a territorial fight when walking back after the stalk…that’s Africa for you!
A reminder that old rams like these only exist where wildlife is properly managed and allowed to reach their full potential🙌
