Day 2 of our Mountain Passes 4x4 Tour delivered everything we love about the Eastern Cape — rugged climbs, wide-open views, and genuine country hospitality.

From Rhodes, we tackled the legendary Carlisle’s Hoek Pass, wound our way past the still waters of Loch Ness, and descended the twisting Volunteers Hoek Pass — each turn revealing something new.

The day ended perfectly at Bidstone Cottages, where our good friend Allan welcomed us with homemade pizza fresh from the oven and stories only the mountains can inspire.

It’s hard to imagine a better way to end a day on the trail.

The adventure begins high in the mountains of the Eastern Cape.

Day 1 of our Mountain Passes 4x4 Tour took us over Naudé’s Nek and Pitseng Pass — two routes carved into history and wrapped in pure scenery.

The weather couldn’t have been better, and our convoy of Land Cruisers, Range Rovers, and Rangers made light work of the winding gravel and rocky climbs.

This is where every bend tells a story, and every summit feels earned.
