In Xitsonga tradition, the White-backed Vulture ( known as "Koti") is tied to dreams and the ability to see the future. Because they often roost in dead trees, it’s believed they “dream of death” at night, which guides them to carcasses the next day. Although critically endangered in Africa, it is the most frequently sighted Vulture in the Kruger.
