As travellers we need to make better choices!Ask yourself.. who does it benefit? Does my spend improve the quality of life for any local community? What about conservation? How does my travel impact on wildlife and natural habitat? Do I need to stay in a commercial hotel chain or can I stay with a locally owned/run guest house employing people from the area? Where should I shop on holiday? The guy on the side of the road baking bread or the supermarket chain? It's about the little things, the small daily decisions we make while on holiday!! As a lion roars outside my tent in Kenya’s Laikipia wilderness, I reflect on an unforgettable encounter earlier today at Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

I met Baraka — a blind black rhino with an extraordinary story. He lost one eye in a fight with another rhino and later developed a cataract in the other, leaving him completely blind. Now protected in a spacious enclosure, Baraka serves as a powerful ambassador for his species.

To touch and feed this gentle giant was nothing short of humbling. A moment I’ll carry with me forever.

Today i visited the very popular Rothschild Giraffe Centre. The Manor house is probably one of the most famously photographed Intagram moments on the planet it was nice playing tourist today because we often send guests here and children love it.

Khama Rhino Sanctuary in Botswana really means business when they say the go all out protecting their rhinos. Listen to the first anti-poaching female ranger Bogolo Garebatho explain what happens to poachers should they enter the reserve....it's chilling and love her response. Go girl, go!
