This morning, the Midlands Meander crew descended on the gorgeous St Ives Lodge & Venue for our Coffee & Connect :)

Sandy delivered a crash course in Destination Marketing that actually made sense, then we dove deep into the absolute treasure that is the Midlands Meander brand — what it means, what it stands for, and how we, as its current custodians, get to open the door wider for more people to discover our magical little corner of the world. 🌿

There were catch-ups. There was networking. There were laughs & there was a very serious amount of Terbodore coffee consumed.

Thank you to Ashley and St Ives for being the most gracious hosts 🙌, to Terbodore Coffee Roasters for fuelling the big ideas, and to every single Midlands member and guest who pulled up on a weekday morning — you’re the reason this community is something special.

If you’re doing the Midlands Meander and you skip Millgate, honestly — what are you even doing?

This place is more than just awesome accommodation. Picture rolling gardens, a warm pub-restaurant vibe, and a games room stocked with TABLE TENNIS (yes, I am that excited about it), darts, pool, and board games. There’s a 9-hole putt-putt course winding through the garden, a swimming pool that’s genuinely cool — and fresh forest paths being cleared right now through their 4-acre grounds.

It’s the kind of spot where you arrive for lunch and suddenly it’s 5pm and you have absolutely zero regrets.

The owners are laid-back legends who are genuinely happy for you to just... stay.

Grab a spot in the garden, challenge your mates to another round of putt-putt, wander the emerging woodland trails — nobody’s rushing you out the door.

And then there’s Shazorro, the onsite German bistro and bakery. Eisbeins, sausages, burgers, danish pastries and artisanal breads — open Wednesday to Sunday, 8am–4pm, with evening meals available on request.

While you’re at it, pop into Strange Days, their craft shop and gallery featuring recycled glass slumpware, local art, books, records and curios.

🐾 1000 Paws, countless smiles, and a whole lot of tail wags!

What an incredible day at the SPCA 1000 Paws Walk yesterday. From talented pups showing off their tricks to happy shoppers browsing the market, the community came together to support the amazing work our local SPCA does every day. ❤️

A special shout-out to Thuli, who joined us with beautiful items from the Emerging Artists Programme supported by N3TC, and to Highgate Wine Estate for hosting such a wonderful event.
