One of those mornings in the Okavango that stays with you.

Exploring the waterways of Hunda Island from Jao Reserve Kwetsani Camp, we watched elephant bulls feeding along the water’s edge, hippos frolicking through the channels, and an endless variety of birdlife moving through the reeds and lagoons.

And the morning was far from over.

After leaving the waterways, we tracked a pack of African wild dogs before eventually finding a leopard lounging high in a tree.

Elephants, hippos, wild dogs and leopard, all before the morning was done.

We can’t imagine a more idyllic way to experience the Okavango.

Our guests recently travelled to Uganda, venturing deep into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for an experience few places in the world can match.

Among ancient rainforest, mist-covered hills and tangled green forest, they set out in search of one of Africa’s most extraordinary encounters: mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

There was the anticipation of the trek, the challenge of the forest, and then that unforgettable moment when a family of gorillas appeared just metres away. But, as is so often the case, it was everything around the wildlife that made the journey special too: the people who guided them, the forest itself, the sense of adventure, and the stories they brought home.

This is why we love what we do. Not simply arranging a safari, but creating journeys that stay with you long after you’ve returned home.

What happens when you step away from the noise and simply allow yourself to exist?

Recently, we had the privilege of designing a bespoke safari for Rita Ora and Taika Waititi, with Margaux also privately guiding them at Singita Sweni.

Afterwards, Rita shared a few words about her experience that really stayed with us. She spoke about getting off her phone, simply existing, and how being immersed in the bush had become the “ultimate reset”.

If you're heading on your first safari, here's something we can almost guarantee: at some point, your alarm is going to go off at an hour that feels slightly unreasonable.

Get up anyway.

There is something rather magical about leaving camp while the bush is still quiet and watching the landscape slowly come to life as the sun rises. The birds begin calling, the animals become active and, before long, you understand exactly why your guide was so determined to get you out of bed.

A safari isn't just about the big sightings. It's about slowing down, paying attention and being there for whatever Africa decides to put in front of you.

And yes, the 05:30 wake-up really is worth it. 😉

Last month, we had the privilege of hosting one of our favourite families on their third safari with us. Together, we explored the wild landscapes of the Kruger National Park and the iconic Sabi Sand Game Reserve, sharing unforgettable wildlife encounters, plenty of laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime.

While the lions, African wild dogs, and cheetahs certainly stole the show, this journey reminded us that the greatest part of any safari isn't just the wildlife. It's the people you share it with.

Earlier this year, Margaux had the privilege of sharing a safari with her family in the Kruger National Park.

"We were heading back to camp on a cool, rainy afternoon when we came across two magnificent male lions on a territorial patrol. With the grass still wet from the rain, they chose to walk along the road, allowing us to follow at a respectful distance. Every few moments they would stop to roar and scent-mark their territory. Hearing those deep, powerful roars echo through the bush while watching their warm breath rise into the cool air is something I'll never forget.

But what made the moment truly unforgettable wasn't just the lions. It was experiencing it alongside the people I love most."
