Late night editing session. This cutie pie had gotten his fill of Zebra, and had such a full belly he could barely walk.

It’s moments like these, where I truly appreciate what I do, and that I get to do this multiple times a year.

Just vanish, with like minded travellers, into the wilderness and spend a short period of time living in another reality

Out there, emails don’t matter, time stands still, and you get to truly live.

People often ask me why I love taking photos on safari. I mean, a bird is a bird is a bird, like a giraffe is a giraffe is a giraffe…

But the reality is twofold for me, firstly I love observing the behaviour that the animals are displaying. We sat for the longest time watching two starlings mob two rollers and it was a fascinating drama unfolding infront of us…much like a dramatic telenovela.

Secondly, photography is art, and in today’s fast paced world, it’s an excuse to slow down and capture something beautiful.

Hot off the safari press this morning!
On safari with Martin Meyer Safaris with private clients when we came across this battle between species. Lilac breasted rollers being mobbed by starlings made for some incredible photographic opportunities!

Before you sacrifice an entire month’s salary to the safari-fashion gods, Safari Sally would like a word.

You do not need a brand-new wardrobe to visit Africa. You need comfortable clothing, sensible layers and something that can handle dust without requiring an emotional support dry cleaner.

Neutral colours are helpful, camouflage can cause problems in certain African countries and your ordinary jeans and T-shirts are perfectly capable of seeing an elephant. The wildlife has never once refused an appearance because a guest was insufficiently beige.
