Sound on: At Sable Tours, we like to keep things fresh. We know how much you love the Panorama Route tour, so we’ve decided to offer you a new twist: start it off with a hike. The Blyde River Leopard Trail takes about 3-4 hours to finish, leaving you with enough time to stop at the Three Rondavels and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. A fresh angle on the Blyde River Canyon and Three Rondavels is in store! Ready to give it a shot? Book today at www.sabletours.co.za

In August, Sable Tours had the privilege of collaborating with Vodacom, to bring their top management, as well as their best performing salespeople, to the Lowveld for a well-deserved break. We really commend this initiative, as few things show you value your team as taking them on a safari, quad biking, Graskop gorge day tour, and Blyde River Boat cruise!

Did you spot us at the airport or Rovos Rail with our meet and greet boards?

Tannie Anita, oh how we appreciate you. This almost-Boervrou of the Year, has officially been with Sable Tours for 17 years! And with her birthday around the corner (we’re not allowed to reveal her age apparently), Sun Catchers Hot Air Ballooning granted her the gift of a lifetime: a hot air balloon ride! So many guests have been spoiled by tannie Anita, and today was her turn. She’s the one taking you to your dream location while telling you all about the Bateleur flying over your head, or the northern Drakensberg escarpment to your left. We love you tannie!

Have you ever paid attention to how much time humans spend talking about food? That’s because food is not only consumed for survival, it’s what connects us. Across cultures “food is our common ground, a universal experience”, according to chef James Beard.
That is why we’ve been perfecting our Magoebaskloof foodie tour over the past two years, so we can give people the perfect combo of views, peace and yummyness. Our first stop on our tour is at Krabbefontein farm because we believe a day is not yet started with an excellent cup of coffee. Their roosterkoek (dough that is prepared on the fire) is next level as well.

Remember how we said we’re obsessed with birds? This past weekend we were treated to this dance by the Pied Kingfisher, just outside the Timbavati Nature Reserve.

Some recognise the Pied Kingfisher for being the least colourful of the kingfishers, in their black and white attire. But for us what stood out was their social nature, as two or three of them would fly together, hover over the pond, and dive down to catch a fish.

Did you know? They are able to eat their prey mid-air. They don’t need to sit down for dinner!

Have you ever tried umqombothi?
The traditional maize-based b**r is significant to many cultures in South Africa. On a cultural immersion tour with us, you can try this along with other traditional South African cuisine. You can also try your hand at mat weaving, which is a tradition used across many South African cultures, including Pedi, who is one of the main cultural groups of the Greater Kruger area. Our tour is based at Nourish, which supports early childhood development, as well as livelihood creation through local crafts and moringa production. And they make a mean cappuccino!

Would you like the opportunity to give back when on safari in South Africa? Book a tour with us today.
