It's all in the tail 🐆

The slight wafting of this leopard's tail is displaying mild anoyance at having to pause before coming down the tree...she's likely checking to see if there are any hyena around before hitting the ground

We could observe these beautiful animals every hour or every day and felt so lucky to see 11 different leopards over a 10 day safari recently

11 different leopards in 10 days on safari 🐆

The last 10 days have been magic, the bush was alive with activity and to see 11 leopards is nearly unheard of

We saw her coming way off, cut the engine, stayed well back and patiently waited for her to pass 🐘

This was a young, female elephant. We're not sure why she was having a bit of a strop but it's their world and we're lucky to be living in it ❤️

26 years ago, our co-founder Steve landed in Kenya to spend his gap year teaching and coaching rugby. A first safari followed, as did exploring everything this beautiful continent had to offer, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Indian Ocean, the list goes on. Steve was hooked.

It was on a guiding course in 2002 when Steve met Graham. The pair have been pretty inseparable since with Graham teaching Steve everything he knows about the bush

Wild Insight Safaris was born out of a frustration with the way safaris were run.

Knowing there must be a better way, spending years talking, dreaming and designing how their trips could operate.

The rest, as they say, is history.

To this day, all Wild Insight Safaris go slower. They go smaller. They go quieter. All this means, we can get closer to feeling at one with the bush

Our story 📜

In 2000, Steve landed in Kenya to spend his gap year teaching and coaching rugby. A first safari followed, as did exploring everything this beautiful continent had to offer, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Indian Ocean, the list goes on. Steve was hooked.

Desperate to return and learn more, Steve embarked on a guiding course in 2002 with Eco-training, led by Head guide .graham

The pair instantly struck up a bond with Steve spending every waking hour learning from Graham while they camped out in the South African bush.

The friends often discussed frustrations with the way safaris were run. Knowing there must be a better way, spending years talking, dreaming and designing how their trips could operate.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Our safaris only go where animals are living a truly wild life. No ticklists, no food to tempt them near. No fences to keep them in. No collars to see where they've gone. We listen to sounds through the night to guide the following day’s adventure. We look for tracks on the dust roads, we observe the birds and monkeys and interpret what they're trying to tell us.

We go slower. We go smaller. We go quieter. We get closer.

Here's the blood trail!

If you saw our previous video you'll know that at Tsakane Safari Camp we had a leopard drag an impala through camp and up a Marula tree.

Well, a hyena trailed swiftly behind in search of the carcass and walked through the blood stain, leaving behind a bloody print

Nature doing what nature does and proof that you never know what might happen at a safari camp!

Our bush camera at has captured some amazing scenes over the years

One night a leopard made a kill, an impala, about 200m away from Marula, one of the huts on camp.

Over the course of a few nights, they kept coming back to feed until they finally dragged the carcass up a tree, away from the prowling hyena

It was dragged through the middle of our camp during the night, leaving a pretty impressive trail behind them
