Going on safari can be a life-changing experience 🙏

The difference with us? When you come on a safari with Wild Insights, it will be a life-changing experience

---

But it’s an experience that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it, and that’s why 80% of our guests book a repeat visit

We go slower. We go smaller. We go quieter. We get closer.

---

With some of the larger tour operators, you’re a number, you arrive with a tick list of animals to see but then your bucket list trip becomes another task to complete, it’s like your work to-do list has followed you on holiday

---

After 50 years in the African bush, we’ve learnt that going smaller and slower creates incredible experiences. All our trips are private, to you and your small group. It’s your intimate safari.

We don’t have tick lists, we don’t track collared animals. We go where animals are living a truly wild life. Yes we hope you see everything you hoped you’d see but we don’t rush around doing this and risk the animal’s welfare in the process.

We listen to the sounds from through the night or an alarm call from a bird or monkey, we read the tracks on the roads as the sun is rising.

So what now? We run a limited number of high-quality, private trips every year and if you want to know more about what we do, stories you’ll share for a lifetime start with a conversation, simply email [email protected]

It means we can go slower.

Smaller.

Quieter.

All this so we can get closer to the wilderness, to adventure, so we can stick to your schedule with more freedom.

You'll never be a guest at you'll be part of our world

Today, we visit the final country in our series on where to go on safari

South Africa

From the peaceful Pridelands to bush walks in Umfula Game Reserve and unforgettable trips to Greater Kruger and Kruger Park, we visit some truly magnificent areas on safari in South Africa. Thriving with wildlife and stunning safari camps, our private guides will take you on a journey of discovery with experiences that will last a lifetime.

Home to Graham, Maja and Steve, South Africa is obviously high on our must-visit list. We own and run two properties in north-eastern South Africa – Tsakane Bush Camp and Mpfuvu Manor – both are run as private camps giving you and your travelling group exclusive use.

From these camps, we visit parks such as Greater Kruger and Kruger Park, Pridelands, Manyeleti and Umfula Game Reserve. You’ll see the Big 5 roaming freely, watch the sun rise and set over some of the largest areas of biodiversity in Africa and hear stories from Graham’s time in the bush rearing two leopards and being accepted by a group of Chacma Baboons.

Moving further afield, we also have preferred access to some beautiful and luxurious private camps in the world-renowned reserves of Timbavati and Sabi Sands. Where you stay and the reserves you visit depend on the safari itinerary we craft together.

On safari with us, you don’t just see things, you will feel them, smell them. From footprints to alarm calls, scents to animal behaviours, by the end of a safari holiday, you will be aware of the intricate details that are key to the ultimate safari experience.

With our custom, private safaris, you’ll find peace and tranquillity at every turn.

We're taking you through the 7 countries we visit on safari.

Next up: Zimbabwe

Known for dramatic landscapes and diverse wildlife, Zimbabwe is also the home to Victoria Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in the world. Water flows through the veins of Zimbabwe, and on safari with us, the Mana Pools and Lake Kariba are also a must-visit.

Mana Pools - A UNESCO Heritage Site, the special Mana Pools spread over 2,500 km of undisturbed nature. Here you’ll find over 450 bird species and 100 African mammals not to mention the highest concentration of hippos and crocodiles in Zimbabwe. Guests can enjoy bush walks, bird watching, fishing, game drives and canoeing in Mana Pools National Park

Lake Kariba – The world’s largest man-made dam, Lake Kariba is home to crocodiles and hippos. Watching the sun set over Lake Kariba is one of our favourite things to do with guests while on safari in this region of Zimbabwe.

Victoria Falls - The sounds, sights and smells of the Zambezi River will hit you as you watch the water launch over the cliff and make its way down through a series of stunning gorges. Several activities on the river make a family safari trip more memorable, such as white-water rafting, abseiling the gorge or a river cruise

Next up: Zambia

Woodlands, large lakes, vast floodplains, breathtaking waterfalls and winding rivers create a stunning landscape that makes a safari in Zambia truly unforgettable. Largely considered one of the last true wilderness areas in Africa, there’s an abundance of wildlife and beautiful landscapes waiting to be witnessed.

Home to one of Africa’s largest wetlands, permanent water sources pull in the animals, especially in May and provide a viewing theatre that’s thriving with wildlife. Our private safari guides will take you on a journey of discovery with experiences that will last a lifetime. Here are some of the places we visit in Zambia

South Luangwa
The National Park shown in last autumn’s wildlife series on the BBC - Kingdom, South Luangwa National Park, is a must-visit. The unofficial home of walking safaris in Africa, it is known for an incredible abundance of wildlife. The concentration of animals around the Luangwa River is among the most intense in the whole of Africa. Hippos crowd riverbanks, birds have made woodland savannahs their permanent home and elephants are a common sight. Not forgetting the lions, wild dogs, hyenas and leopards. South Luangwa National Park is also a birdwatcher’s idea of heaven, no matter what the season. 732 species, including 39 birds of prey and 47 migrant species, can be found in the skies above this beautiful land.

Zambezi
You’ll find the Zambezi National Park on the border with Zimbabwe. It provides an intimate safari experience and is another popular destination for walking safaris. Here you can truly enjoy the calmness of the bush and view wildlife without large crowds, creating an incredible sense of adventure and synergy with nature. We often combine visits here with safaris in Botswana, particularly the Chobe National Park. May is a great month to visit Zambia as it marks the start of the cool dry season.

Victoria Falls
It’s very easy to visit the magnificent Victoria Falls from Zambia. We often combine visits to the Falls with a Tiger Fishing experience on the Zambezi River. There are a number of activities on the river that make a family safari trip more memorable, such as white-water rafting, abseiling the gorge or a river cruise. High water levels are between February and May.

TANZANIA 🇹🇿

The wildlife, the culture, the landscapes – is Africa the best place on earth?

Planning a safari can be overwhelming, where to go, when to go and how long to go for.

Our solution to all of this – just ask us.

We have over 75 years of combined experience leading safaris in Africa. So whether you’re looking to book with us or just want advice, we’re happy to help

Over the next few weeks, we’re taking you through the 7 countries we visit on safari.

Next up: Tanzania

Another well-trodden safari path, due to legendary landscapes and incredible wildlife-viewing.

Famous for the Great Migration and high predator density, almost everyone has heard of the Serengeti – one of Tanzania’s most well-known National Parks. This legendary land is a vast mass of African wilderness that will take your breath away and stop you in your tracks.

Seeing huge numbers of zebra, wildebeest and antelope pass through the plains is a sight to see.

The Ngorongoro Crater sits in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is the largest, intact volcanic caldera on earth. thought to be over two million years old. The crater has become a natural sanctuary for many large mammals in Africa, and The Big Five can be found here.

But we understand that the most famous safari experience isn't the right experience for everyone; it can mean crowds and safari vehicles jostling for the best position. Plus, after years of guiding in the African bush, we’ve learnt that going smaller and slower creates the best experiences.

We go off the beaten track, we go on foot if possible and safe to do so. We go to lesser-known places for more intimate experiences.

We recommend combining safari trips to Tanzania with time in Kenya and Zambia.
