WILDEBEEST HUNTING with CHIVIC AFRICAN SAFARIS

In South Africa we have two species of Wildebeest, the Black Wildebeest (first picture) and the Blue Wildebeest (last photo). They occur in two different hunting areas, so when booking your South African hunting trip with us we will travel a bit and you will exprience different hunting locations.
The Blue wildebeest hunt will be in the lowveld/bushveld hunting area and the Black wildebeest hunt will be in the Highveld hunting area.

THE AMOUNT OF PATIENCE TO HUNT AN ELEPHANT with CHIVIC AFRICAN SAFARIS

To start an elephant hunt, is not difficult, it is not hard to miss their tracks, you see it very clearly, the difficult part of hunting an elephant is to be so quite, to make sure that animal cant hear you walking closer. When you loose them, it is hard to find them again, because they are always one step ahead of you.

Then the next step comes in, probably the hardest step and definitely the most important step, shot placement, yes that animal is big, but he is intimidating , and no one will ever know what you felt like before pulling the trigger on that huge elephant standing infront of you. Do you call it FEAR, EXCITEMENT, ANXIOUS, CRAZY or BRAVE? I dont know, but making sure that elephant is shot perfectly is hard. You want it dead with the first shot, just like all the other animals, but especially this enormous giant.

Even though it is so big, it disappears within seconds, and you do not want a wounded elephant surprising you around a thick bush.

HARVESTING AN OLD ANIMAL with Chivic African Safaris

Most of the time the hunting rush is because of a HUGE sized trophy animal. That you will one day showcase on your wall.
But sometimes it is so satisfying going out to hunt, tracking this one specific animal and you get the shot, seeing that it was a very old animal. Because then you know you contributed to CONSERVATION.
You know not only have you taken out the perfect type of trophy but you left the younger ones to get one more year bigger for you to go after next year.

Look at this hippos tusks. He would not have lived much longer.
