Een icoon is overleden...

The well known "Moose" of Solitaire has died.
In his more than 20 years at Solitaire as a baker, Percy Cross [his real name] became a legend in his own right for the thousands of tourists and other travellers who stopped over at Solitaire to take fuel from the vintage fuel pumps and rest in the coolness and shade of the Solitaire "plaaswinkeltjie".
Here you could wash down the dust with a cup of decent "boerekoffie" and give yourself over to a slice of Moose's world famous milk tart or home baked bread with large servings of home made butter.
Then came the end of the road for Moose on Saturday afternoon, at his beloved Solitaire at the age of 55. Close relatives say he struggled with shortness of breath and fatigue in recent weeks, albeit his death came as a shock for thousands from across the globe who took to social network to pay tribute to the legend of Solitaire.
Percy Cross leaves behind his parents and four sisters.
