Exclusivity as luxury... Vastness as luxury...

The travel landscape is changing and so is our definition of luxury. It’s no longer only about thread counts, chandeliers, or price tags.

Today, luxury is:
- space to breathe
- untouched landscapes
- rare, unexpected moments
- experiences you can’t replicate anywhere else
- the feeling of being one of very few to witness something extraordinary.

Standing in the Namib, surrounded by silence and endless horizon, I was reminded that true luxury isn’t added, it’s revealed. It’s the vastness, the stillness, the imagination, the surprise of finding something whimsical where you least expect it.

At Lugi Design Travels, this is the essence of what we create: immersive, rare, deeply personal experiences where exclusivity comes from connection to place, to people and to self 🥰

Because sometimes… the most luxurious thing in the world is space.

I haven’t been present on socials because my body made me stop.
Short breath, headaches, fatigue, and mental fog were quietly building… and I kept ignoring the signs in the name of work.

It was almost too late.

Today I’m simply grateful:
For breath.
For long walks and runs.
For clear thoughts.
For feeling like myself again.

Take care of your health — it’s the foundation of everything!

Off the Beaten Tracks.. My Prince Albert, with love!

There’s something deeply special about the small towns of the Western Cape... the quiet rhythm of life, the open skies, the laughter and friendliness of the locals, and the people who remind you what true connection feels like.

Prince Albert is one of those rare finds for me, it`s a town that blends simplicity, charm, and authenticity in every detail. From farm-fresh breakfasts to the golden Karoo sunsets, everything feels unhurried and real.

For me, this is what luxury truly means, not opulence, but a sense of belonging. I can`t wait to share this special place with you all!

How you start your morning sets the tone for everything that follows.
Before the world starts calling, demanding, and taking little pieces of you, find a moment to just be.

There’s something about the Namib Desert that reminds me of this stillness. The vast silence of the desert, the soft rhythm of the dunes… it’s nature’s way of saying, pause, breathe, realign.

Days like this remind me why I love this city… where even a quick dip feels like a mini holiday.
The Sea Point tidal pool is my favourite! It`s that perfect blend of chill, sunshine, and salty happiness.

I spent September on the road, discovering the small towns and quiet corners of the Western Cape that most people simply pass by.

One that truly stayed with me was Matjiesfontein, home to the timeless Lord Milner Hotel. Walking its single street feels like stepping into another era, where history still hums softly through the Karoo air.

Once a tiny Khoikhoi settlement, it was transformed in 1883 by a young Scotsman, James Douglas Logan, who turned this railway stop into a thriving Victorian village that once hosted authors, governors and explorers.

There’s something magical about places like this... where time stands still, and you’re reminded that South Africa’s greatest stories often live in the smallest towns.

Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain never fails to put on a show today, with its famous ‘tablecloth’, a natural cloud formation that sweeps over the mountain like a blanket. Just like this phenomenon, travel is about perspective, from the climb up Lion’s Head to the breathtaking views at the top, it reminds us how much beauty and magic this city holds.

Grateful to live and share this wonder with the world through authentic travel experiences.
