Hillhouse Accommodation Two self-catering guest houses in the beautiful Midlands countryside overlooking Midmar Dam They are an ideal place to stay when exploring the Natal Midlands.

Hillhouse and Lakehouse (Hillhouse Accommodation) are wonderfully unusual guesthouses situated on a farm on a hill overlooking Midmar Dam. These guest houses are private and secluded, surrounded by trees, wildlife and spectacular views. Ideal for large groups of friends, big family get togethers or conferences and workshops.

Manifesto of Low Expectations

In an effort to prepare you for your stay with us at Hillhouse, weโ€™ve written a Manifesto of Low Expectations.

3: characteristic of or resembling country people (lacking in social graces or polish)
4: appropriate to the country (as in plainness or sturdiness) ie: heavy rustic boots

Hillhouse is both rustic and charming.

Expect:
* Ladybugs, moths, dogs, chickens beetles and crickets
* 10kms of dirt road ( itโ€™s worth it)
* Honest aesthetic of a converted barn - wooden walls and floors upstairs. Sound traveling between the rooms
* Monkeys, porcupine, mice, bushbuck, frogs, snakes and other wildlife life on the farm
* industrial windows and beams
* Muddy shoes and cars

Why on earth do people want to come here?
* No traffic, complete absence of pretense, wide open spaces, peace and quiet, fresh air
* Walking trails on 24 Ha of indigenous forest, orchards and grassland
* A million stars, and even more birds
* Plenty of wood for the big fireplace in the livingroom
