Apparently, consistency can take you all the way to the UK. 😂

We had a slightly unusual call from one of our education clients recently.

They'd received an email from a school in the UK that had come across them online.

The reason for the email?

They wanted to have a conversation about similarities between the two schools' names and logos. 😬

Before anyone asks... no, we did not do the branding. 😂

Once the initial panic had worn off though, there was something pretty satisfying about the whole situation.

We've been working with this client for nearly three years, consistently building and maintaining their digital presence.

Posting.
Advertising.
Keeping their website visible.
Making sure they continue showing up online.

Nothing flashy. Just steady, consistent marketing over time.

And then one day, an organisation on the other side of the world finds them.

That’s the part we love.

We talk a lot about leads, conversions and ROI in marketing, but there’s another job marketing does that is much harder to put neatly into a monthly report:

Awareness.

Every post, every ad, every Google search, every website visit and every time someone sees your name adds another layer of visibility to your business.

You don’t always know who is watching.

And apparently, you definitely don’t know where they’re watching from. 😂

So if you’re wondering whether consistent marketing really makes a difference...

It does.

You don’t need to make the biggest noise in the room.

You just need to keep reminding the room that you’re there.

And sometimes, apparently, that room extends all the way to the UK. 🇿🇦➡️🇬🇧

Five months. A few grey hairs. And more than R3 million in new business. 👀

We had a pretty great call with one of our clients recently. 🥳

They’ve just secured another contract worth approximately R2 million, bringing the value of business won from marketing-generated opportunities to more than R3 million in roughly a month.

We’d love to say the journey was perfectly smooth.

It wasn’t.

A few months into the campaign, there were concerns. Leads were coming in and the data was moving, but the big commercial results hadn’t landed yet.

And that’s a difficult place to be.
Because clicks don’t pay salaries.
Impressions don’t pay suppliers.

So we kept working.

We adjusted audiences, refined campaigns, changed creative, reviewed search terms, looked at lead quality and kept talking to the client about what was happening with enquiries on their side.

Then things started shifting.

By July, Meta campaign results had increased by 212.5% in one month, Google Ads recorded its first 10 tracked conversions, and one marketing-generated enquiry had already become a project worth approximately R400,000.

Then the bigger deals started landing. Fast forward to now, and they’ve secured more than R3 million in business in roughly a month.

The lesson?

Marketing performance and business results don’t always arrive at the same time. Someone can discover you today, enquire next month and only sign a contract months later.

The pipeline can be building before the revenue shows up.
That’s why we care about more than lead volume.

How many became real opportunities?
How many received quotes?
How many closed?
And what were they worth?

Because 100 leads might look impressive on a report.
One R2 million contract looks considerably better on a bank statement. 😉
We know which result we’d rather report on.

Happy business dealings to our client! 🥂

We’re incredibly grateful to play a part in helping our clients grow and to see the hard work turn into real business.

Here’s to the next one. 💙

Here’s the juice… not every marketing campaign behaves itself. Cue the face-palm. 🤦‍♀️

We’ve been working through an interesting challenge recently with one of our B2B engineering clients, and it’s a pretty good example of what actually happens behind the scenes when marketing doesn’t quite do what we expect it to.

We could look at Google Ads, see the clicks and conversions coming through and call it a day. But those numbers only tell us half the story.

So we’ve been working closely with the client to understand what’s happening after those leads come through.

Are they the right enquiries? Are they relevant? Are they turning into genuine opportunities? Are people searching for something completely different to what we expected?

That feedback gives us information Google simply can’t.

We then take that back to the campaigns, look at what people are actually searching for, make adjustments, test and keep refining.

It’s not the glamorous side of marketing, but it’s probably one of the most important parts of what we do.

Figuring out why.
Because more leads don't necessarily mean better marketing.

Here’s a simple example:

If Google Ads generates 40 leads at R300 each, your cost per lead is R300.
Sounds great. But if only 4 of those enquiries are genuine sales opportunities, you’re actually paying R3,000 per qualified lead.

That tells a very different story.

So, a useful Google Ads takeaway from something we’re working on right now:
Don’t judge your Google Ads by how many leads they generate. Look at how many of those leads your business would actually want more of.

The data tells us what happened online.

Our clients tell us what happened when that lead reached the real world.
The good stuff happens when we put the two together.

Henry Ford apparently understood something more than 100 years ago that businesses are still getting wrong today.

When things get tight, marketing is often one of the first expenses on the chopping block.

And on paper, it works.

Cut the marketing budget and you've saved money this month. 👏
Except there's a problem. The bill doesn't arrive this month.

Research from the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute found that brands that stopped advertising saw sales decline by an average of:
16% after one year.
25% after two years.
36% after three years.

That's the dangerous part about stopping your marketing.
Nothing necessarily explodes tomorrow.
Your phone still rings.
Existing customers still buy.
Your sales team still has opportunities in the pipeline.

But you're living off demand that was created before you stopped marketing.

Meanwhile, the next pipeline isn't being built.
Your competitors are still showing up.
And the people who will need what you sell six months from now are seeing them instead of you.

Then revenue slows down.
And marketing gets blamed because "it isn't bringing in enough business."
So we cut it again.

See the problem?

Sometimes businesses genuinely have to cut costs. That's business. But there's a very big difference between cutting unnecessary costs and switching off the thing responsible for creating future demand.

Marketing isn't something you start doing when you need customers.
By then, you're already late.

Before asking:
"Where can we cut?"

Maybe the better question is:
"What are we doing consistently to make sure there is still demand for our business 6, 12 and 24 months from now?"

Because stopping the clock doesn't save time.
And stopping marketing doesn't stop your competitors from marketing.

Everyone seems to think they need a massive website.

Twenty pages.
Fancy animations.
Videos.
Moving graphics.

In reality?

Most businesses don't.

A website isn't there to impress you.
It's there to convince someone else to contact you.

The businesses that consistently generate enquiries usually have websites that do a few things exceptionally well:

✔ They answer the questions customers are already asking.
✔ They make it easy to take the next step.
✔ They load quickly and work properly on every device.
✔ They build trust within seconds.

And now there's something else to think about.

People aren't only searching on Google anymore.

They're asking ChatGPT.
Microsoft Copilot.
Gemini.
Perplexity.

"Who supplies industrial pumps in Johannesburg?"

"Recommend a B2B marketing agency in South Africa."

"Who's the best engineering company near me?"

AI can only recommend businesses it can understand.

That means your website needs clear, well-structured content, accurate information and strong SEO foundations. It's no longer just about ranking on Google—it's about being understood by AI systems that are increasingly helping people choose who to do business with.

Your website doesn't need to be flashy.

It needs to work.

Because the best website isn't the one that wins design awards.

It's the one that quietly brings in business while you're busy running it.

🎣 Ever tried fishing without bait?

You might get lucky... but you'll be waiting a long time.

Finding new customers works the same way.

Google Ads put your business in front of people who are already searching for what you offer.

Meta Ads help you reach people who didn't even know they needed you... yet.

The trick isn't to cast your line everywhere.

It's to fish where the fish are—with the right bait.

Before you spend another cent on marketing, ask yourself one question...

Do you actually have a strategy, or are you just keeping busy?

It's something we see all the time. Businesses are posting on social media, running ads, updating their websites... but none of it is really working together.

The truth is, marketing doesn't need to be complicated. It just needs direction.

When you've got a clear strategy, it's so much easier to make decisions, spend your budget wisely and focus on the things that will actually grow your business.

We've put this together to share a few interesting facts about why strategy matters so much. We hope it gives you something to think about.

There’s this weird grey zone no one talks about.

The strategy’s done.
The ideas are solid.
But everything… stalls.

Nothing’s getting rolled out.
The plan’s sitting in a deck.
Everyone’s busy.
No one’s owning it.

That’s where most brands lose momentum — right after the strategy, before the ex*****on.

At BlueLine, we’ve built our entire service around closing that gap.
🔹 Need to build the plan? We’ll do it with you.
🔹 Already have it? We’ll take the wheel and move it forward.
🔹 Don’t know where the hold-up is? We’ll find it, fix it, and get things moving again.

It’s not loud marketing. It’s the kind that actually moves.
📩 Ask us about our services or ready-to-go packages.

We’ll meet you where you’re at — and make sure things don’t stall there.

Feeling like your marketing should be working… but it’s not?
You’re showing up. You’re posting. Maybe you’ve even run some ads.
But something still isn’t landing. People aren’t taking action — and you’re not sure why.

We see this all the time.

It’s not that your content is bad. It’s that something in your customer journey is off. We’ve created a simple tool to help you figure it out. It’s called Fix Your Funnel — and it’s a free worksheet that helps you map out where people are discovering you, where they’re dropping off, and how to guide them to actually work with you.

It’s simple. It’s clear. And it’s made for real businesses trying to do this without a full-time team.

Your business has grown.
But your brand?
Still feels like it’s playing catch-up.

Maybe your website no longer reflects what you actually offer.
Maybe your visuals feel a little off.
Maybe you’re attracting the wrong people — or no one at all.

We see this happen often with incredible businesses, and it’s more common than you’d think. So we created something to help.

It’s called The Rebrand Radar — a free, practical guide to help you figure out:

▪ Where your brand might be misaligned
▪ Why it’s happening
▪ And what you can do about it (without burning everything down)

If something’s been feeling off lately, this might give you the clarity you’ve been looking for.
