It's Never the Mona Lisa I Remember
People often ask me what my favourite travel memories are.
The truth is, it's rarely the famous landmarks.
I don't remember the Mona Lisa at the Louvre nearly as vividly as I remember the charming Frenchie chatting to me over a croissant at a tiny café in Paris.
Or being invited into someone's home for dinner in Saigon.
Or trekking through mud in Rwanda, crying, wet , and looking for my kids who had walked ahead of me.
For me, travel has always been about experiences. Big or small. Planned or unexpected. Those are the moments that stay with us.
This week I had a wonderful group of guests from Australia exploring Soweto with me. When I offered them the chance to try Mopani worms, I expected at least a little hesitation.
Not a blink.
"Let's do it!" they all said.
And there we were, standing in the heart of Soweto, sharing stories and tasting one of Africa's most unique delicacies.
Will they remember every street we drove down? Probably not.
Will they remember the day they ate Mopani worms in Soweto with a bunch of new friends? Absolutely.
Those are the memories that last a lifetime.
And I absolutely love being part of creating them. ❤️
