🐎 Working riding holidays don’t have to last six months, or even one, to be rewarding!
Marcia joined us for just two weeks but soon became a very useful part of the team, while Laura was here for only a week and somehow left us feeling as though we’d known her forever. ❤️
And it’s not just about what we get out of it, either. Even a week at our yard will give you a taste of the Wild Coast, its wonderful horses and what it means to be part of the team.

A week as a work rider involves a fair bit more than sitting on a horse. 🐴😉

These photos give you a taste of some of the other things you’ll get to do:

🥕 Make horses happy and supple with carrot stretches.

☀️ Daub sunscreen onto soft pink muzzles to stop them burning.

🌅 Climb Signal Hill in the dark to catch a perfect sunrise.

🦄 Get your face painted so you look and feel like a unicorn.

💦 Take wild swimming to the next level at the top of a waterfall.

So, while the riding is what you really come for, you might well find a few other reasons to stick around… or even come back for more! 🐎❤️

Things happen on trail, and every so often the backup guide has to give up her horse while another, who may be experiencing a slight niggle or a twinge of muscle pain, gets to run home loose.

And if you’re that lucky horse, you make the most of it.

Quinn might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he was definitely smart enough to recognise a good opportunity when he saw one. 😂

Why merely run home when you can roll in a muddy puddle, splash about and give yourself a full-body mud treatment?

Honestly, we can’t blame him. 🐎💦
