Note that Kosi Bay is the sole location in South Africa where six species of mangroves are found, including the widely distributed white mangroves, black mangroves, red mangroves, Tonga mangroves (exclusive to Kosi), Indian mangroves (exclusive to Kosi), and cannonball mangroves (with only one recorded specimen in Kosi).
