My soul cries! There were more than 250,000 wild lions roaming the African plains. This is not a fairy-tale, this is how the world was 50 years ago. There are now less than 20,000.

Today is World Lion Day, and with a decline in the lions’ population there’s a real concern for the future of the wild lions in the world. The decline is mostly due to habitat loss, human-animal confrontation, and legal and illegal hunting.

Spring is the perfect time to plan a long weekend in the Lowveld & Hazyview is the ideal place to stay! Let us plan your breakaway accommodation and adventure activities.

Kruger National Park Open Land Rover Safari: A true African adventure - Our safaris are all about providing an exclusive and personalised experience. When we say exclusive we really mean it! A maximum of six guests only are on the open safari vehicle ensuring a side seat for all, leaving the middle seat free for maximum comfort.

Africa’s longest Aerial Cable Trail - each section of the trail varies from 70 to 230 metres long: Experience the freedom of gliding over one of the last remaining natural forested valleys along the Sabie River adjacent to the Kruger National Park. The aerial cable trail takes you down into the valley basin, stopping along the way on a number of elevated platforms to admire the natural vegetation, birdlife and the views of the forest floor below.

Quad Bike Trails - Our Quad biking adventure will exceed all your expectations. Trails run through the most scenic Sabie River Valley, winding along the Sabana River, indigenous vegetation, mountain hills and other streams. The tracks vary from technical to very easy, so there is something to offer the expert as well as the beginner!

Elephant Interaction Programmes - This educational and enchanting experience is guaranteed to leave you with a new understanding of these gentle and highly intelligent animals. The youngest is the much loved female and the young males range in age from eleven to thirteen years with the oldest male approximately twenty years old.

River Rafting - Join us for a memorable experience along the river through the natural bush of the Sabie River Valley. With experienced guides and approved equipment this is an excellent family activity.

Geckoiing – White Water Tubing - one of the best adventure activities! This is probably the best way to descend a low volume river like the Sabie. A Gecko is a very small raft that you steer with webbed gloves, no paddles needed! It is very easy to steer and very safe, and one of the coolest ways to have fun with family and friends in the sun and water!

Fly in South Africa’s most popular fixed-wing Microlight Bantam B22J - Become a club member allowing you to participate in scenic flights in SA’s most popular light aircraft – the Bantam B22J microlight. Flights range from 15min to 45mins over wonderful scenic country.
