Our gardens are giving us one final show of autumn before winter becomes a reality.
Our visiting swallows did not manage to raise a family this year, sadly nature did not allow.
However, we have this beautiful family of wagtails that are raising their 2nd brood here.. Mom and Dad industriously feeding.

Absolutely wonderful!
The joy and passion the owners, Dorothy and Geoff have is so evident.
PUT ASIDE any mental images you have of the typical 'backpacker' accommodation. This is NOT THAT!
It is clean, comfortable, well provisioned and managed.
We had the privilege of using this as our family/friends base for a wedding at Lord's Wines and could not have asked for, or found a place more perfect in any way.
There aren't enough superlative adjectives available to describe the owners and the oasis for the body & soul they have created here. The attention to details covered, was way beyond the norm!

Having done some hiking in the area previously, we have a point of reference to compare to, so are not singing praises without foundation. Next time we hike Boesman'skloof, we know exactly where we will be staying.

This is just one of the reviews left on Tripadvisor by a guest who stayed with us at the end of February.
We are so thankful to each and every guest who comes to stay at our backpackers.

As we come to another Christmas, thoughts turn to family and friends.
In our case its all the wonderful folk that have come to stay during the year.
Its been a difficult year for sure but uplifted by our wonderful guests.
Geoff and I wish each and every guest a blessed Christmas spent with family and friends.
Lets be kind as we think about those that are lonely or depressed and for whom holidays are not a happy time.
If you know someone like that, reach out and make a difference in their life, it may be a small thing to you but will make a big difference to the recipient.
May you be richly blessed, one and all

This is going to be a weekend to remember

We have a large tree in the center of our courtyard garden.
Those who have stayed here will know exactly what I am talking about.
This tree shades our friendship table and provides berries for the birds.
It's a tree that needs regular maintenance to keep looking shapely.
There was a large branch to one side that we were dithering over, should we shouldn't we.
Anyway Mother Nature made the final decision for us on Sunday night during extremely high winds and we woke up on Monday to find the branch in the garden.
Thankfully no damage to any structures.
We spent the best part of Monday cutting it up and loading onto the trailer for disposal at our local tip.
