Winter sightings at Merci Dieu.

One of the greatest joys of farm life is never knowing what you’ll discover around the next corner.

This week we’ve been treated to helmeted guineafowl, a pair of African spoonbill, hamerkops, magnificent grey crowned cranes, and our beautiful tree-lined avenue dressed in winter light.

The mornings may be crisp, but the farm is alive with birdsong and quiet moments that remind us to slow down and appreciate nature.

Whether you’re an avid birder, a photographer, or simply looking for a peaceful country escape, Merci Dieu offers something special in every season.

We’ve been incredibly fortunate to welcome some truly wonderful guests to Merci Dieu Country Cottage, this year.

Each visit has brought new friendships, shared stories, and lasting memories.

The place was spotless—clean, tidy, and beautifully organized, making us feel at home right away.
A highlight of our stay was the generosity of our hosts: we enjoyed fresh herbs, vegetables, and eggs from their farm, and Kate kindly checked in on us regularly to ensure we were comfortable. She even shared lamb meat from their farm, which was a special treat.
The serene environment, surrounded by nature, made this the perfect getaway. It was peaceful, refreshing, and truly memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and highly recommend this Country cottage to anyone looking for warmth, hospitality, and tranquility.
