The Swartland wine region has become my favourite because of its authentic simplicity and unfiltered beauty.
No manicured gardens and high end marketing, just nature at its truest.
Genuine South African kindness and the knowledge that work is life and life is work.
Here man and nature respect each other, here you experience the unpolished version of South Africa's tourism.

Wim and Jacobien taught me a lot, they were so confident in their 'style' of travelling that they didnt second guess, they simply told me who they were and allowed me to put it together. Turns out I read them correctly.

Janet read our brochure and her and Peter KNEW this is what they wanted for their honeymoon. From day one, despite the many many revisions, they were respectful and flexible with me.

Planning a holiday to South Africa can be quite overwhelming, especially when its your honeymoon and you are well travelled. I was quite nervous they wouldn't be impressed, thankfully my fears were unrealised.

A highlight was the secret picnic that was planned, in the winelands of Franschhoek. They had no clue!

When I met them in Cape Town for a cup of coffee and a stroll along the beach, they were even so kind as to allow my dog to join us on the beach.

Africa’s tourism story is changing — and the numbers are proving it. ✈️🌍

According to the new Africa in the Air White Paper released by the ATTA® - African Travel & Tourism Association at ITB Berlin, Africa is experiencing record aviation growth, with international airline seat capacity up an impressive 18.6% year-on-year in 2026.

Despite global uncertainty, rising fuel concerns, and geopolitical tensions affecting traditional air routes, Africa is emerging as a region of resilience, opportunity, and growing connectivity.

What stands out most is how African hubs such as Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Johannesburg, and Casablanca are becoming increasingly strategic — not only for tourism, but also for global aviation networks and future travel stability.

The report highlights five powerhouse markets driving this growth:

🇪🇬 Egypt
🇿🇦 South Africa
🇲🇦 Morocco
🇪🇹 Ethiopia
🇰🇪 Kenya

South Africa alone has seen international seat growth rise by nearly 20%, reinforcing what many of us in the industry are already seeing firsthand: travellers are still prioritising meaningful experiences, nature, culture, wildlife, and authentic connection.

For travellers, this growth could mean better access, more competitive pricing, improved routes, and greater flexibility across the continent. For Africa, it signals confidence — confidence in our destinations, our tourism industry, and our future.

As someone passionate about travel in Africa, I find this incredibly encouraging. The world may feel uncertain at times, but Africa continues to inspire exploration, adventure, and connection.

This is Africa
The Cape of storms is showing off and while I'm waiting several hours at the airport I am reminded of how lucky I am.
I have a front row seat to the runway and I'm sipping on a delicious Sauvignon Blanc from one of my favourite small towns in South Africa, Riebeeck Kasteel. This crisp and smooth wine is definitely turning a cloudy day in to a happy experience.

This was a fun one. Three couples from different countries who have been friends for a few decades. I remember thinking how lucky they are to have such strong friendships that allow them to travel the world together.
I employed a professional guide, Lee-Ann Chain from Step Out Tours (https://stepouttours.co.za/) to plan the winelands activities and she knocked it out of the park. She organised personalised tastings and a MasterClass with a wine specialist, she even held trivia games to make sure everyone was having fun.
When I met the group, I saw why the friendship circle was so strong - they really enjoyed each others company.
Thank you for making my job even more enjoyable.
