Happy Amazon Rainforest Day! 🌿🐒🌎

Today we’re celebrating the Amazon, and forests everywhere. Whether it’s a rainforest, a mountain forest, or the trees in your own backyard, forests are some of the most biodiverse and important ecosystems on our planet.

🌲 At Wilde Tracks, we understand that deep connection to forests. There’s something powerful about spending time in nature, and we hope everyone can experience a little of that feeling for themselves.

🏞️ And the Amazon is truly something to behold. It’s twice the size of India, roughly the size of the contiguous United States, and covers more than half the area of Europe.

💚 We also have some exciting news: Amazon deforestation decreased by 37% between August 2025 and July 2026, reaching its lowest level in a decade! Conservation works, but we have to keep going.

It’s International Primate Day! 🐒🌿 Can you guess the primates in these photos?

🦧 Tapanuli orangutan- Sumatra, Indonesia
🐭 Madame Berthe’s Mouse lemur- Madagascar
🙉 Pied tamarin- Brazilian Amazon
🦍 Cross River gorilla- Nigeria & Cameroon
🐷 Pig-tailed langur- Mentawai Islands, Indonesia

All five are Critically Endangered. With only hundreds left in the wild, they face threats of deforestation, poaching, and illegal wildlife trade.

Some are even so rare that finding photos of them was a challenge in itself. And that’s exactly the point- it’s easy to forget or not hear about just how many different primates share our planet- and how many are now fighting for a future.

Protecting them means protecting their forests, strengthening policies against habitat destruction and wildlife trafficking, and supporting conservation efforts around the world. 🌍❤️‍🩹

Meet Rosemary- a true Wilde Tracks legend! Rosemary Zimmerman 💚

From our first meeting in Namibia to bringing International Veterinary Care donations all the way to Malawi (literally flying them there herself!), Rosemary is the kind of person who doesn’t just care- she shows up.

And now, she’s starting an exciting new chapter as a vet tech student at Purdue Veterinary Medicine 🩺. We couldn’t be more proud of her for following her dream and am so excited to be part of her Purdue adventure!

Wilde Tracks was created for people like Rosemary- people who want to explore, make a difference, and leave every place a little better than they found it.

🩵 From supporting endangered African penguin rehabilitation and contributing to shark and whale research, to exploring kelp forests and connecting with local communities, WildeMarine brings you closer to the species and ecosystems working to protect them.

🐧 And you don’t have to be a marine biologist to join. WildeMarine is family-friendly, goes at your pace, and can be shaped around what you want to experience.

🦈 For those looking to take their experience further, a dedicated marine veterinary programme is also available, offering a deeper dive into the veterinary side of marine conservation and rehabilitation.

Vet nurses are the backbone of wildlife care- and we could not do what we do without them.

That’s why we’re so excited to collaborate with Samantha Jade Clutterbuck founder of Exotic Vet Nurse Training (EVNT), to help connect veterinary professionals with opportunities in wildlife conservation!

Through EVNT, Samantha is supporting fellow vet nurses with practical resources, education, mentorship, and honest conversations around the questions that don’t always get enough attention in the profession.

We’re so proud to highlight the people behind animal care, and to help create more pathways for vet nurses to take their skills into conservation. 🌍👩‍⚕️🐾

Plot twist: you don’t have to be a vet to make a difference in conservation. 👀

🩺 We have huge appreciation for our vets- they bring the expertise, knowledge and care behind so many of our missions! But protecting wildlife takes more than one profession.

🌎 It takes researchers, photographers, filmmakers, storytellers, travelers, creatives and, simply, people who care. At Wilde Tracks, we’re all about creating accessible, unique, and safe ways for everyday people to get involved, learn from experts, and play a part in protecting wildlife.

🐾 Conservation needs all of us. And there’s a place for you here.
