Expanded Free Park & Ride for Springboks vs Australia at DHL Stadium

The City of Cape Town is making it easier for fans to get to the DHL Stadium this Saturday, 23 August 2025, when the Springboks take on Australia in the Castle Lager Rugby Championship. With a capacity crowd of around 55 000 expected, the City is rolling out an expanded free Park & Ride and MyCiTi shuttle service to ease congestion and ensure safe, convenient travel.

Stadium gates open at midday, with the free shuttle service starting from 11:30 and running until 21:30. Pick-up points include Bellville Velodrome, Century City, the CTICC, Thibault Square, and the Civic Centre, with return trips after the game.

‘We know that game days mean heavy traffic, which is why the City has worked with organisers to expand transport options that reduce congestion,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith. ‘We encourage everyone to make use of Park-and-Ride and shuttle services to enjoy the game without the stress of driving.’

Park & Ride Locations

Civic Centre: Free parking for ticket holders via Hertzog Boulevard and Civic Road, with direct MyCiTi connections.

Century City: Free parking at Steelbridge e-Parking (limited bays, first-come, first-served) and paid parking at the mall.

Bellville Velodrome: Dedicated Park & Ride with shuttles to the stadium.

CTICC: Shuttle pick-up from the City Sightseeing bus stop near Entrance 3 on Walter Sisulu Avenue.

Additional options include free CBD on-street parking after 13:00, as well as paid parking at Parkalot (Jack Craig Street) and Harbour Arch.

Extra Transport Measures

Metrorail will run extra trains from 11:00 to 22:00 at R20 return.

E-hailing drop-off/pick-up will be at P13, Green Point Main Road (between York and Wigtown).

Fans can also enjoy the FanWalk from the Civic Centre to Green Point.

Road Closures

Several roads around Green Point and Granger Bay will be closed or restricted between 06:00 and 22:30, with Fritz Sonnenberg Road closed for 24 hours.
