Our pet-friendly w**e estates guide just got bigger! We've expanded our original list of 14 estates to 32 w**e estates across 10 w**e-route areas, bringing you even more inspiration for your next w**elands adventure.

Because exploring the w**elands is always better when your four-legged companions can join in on the fun!

Bubbles, picnic blankets and a spring afternoon in Greyton.

The Greyton Garden of Bubbles returns for its fourth edition on Saturday, 24 October 2026, bringing together good company and plenty to taste in the heart of Greyton.

From 12:30 to 18:00, guests can taste their way through a selection of Cap Classique, sparkling w**es, Prosecco and rosé. This year’s line-up includes Jacques Bruére, Domaine des Dieux, Wildekrans, Goedverwacht Family W**es, De Grendel and Zardetto Prosecco.

The idea is wonderfully relaxed. Gather a group of friends, pack a picnic lunch, bring a blanket and settle in on the grass for the afternoon. Each ticket holder will also receive a crystal Ch*****ne coupe to take home.

And there’s good reason to make a weekend of it. Garden of Bubbles coincides with the Greyton Rose Show & Open Gardens weekend, giving you an excuse to explore more of the village while you’re there.

Tickets start from R370 per person and are limited. The event is strictly for guests aged 18 and older.

W**e tasting or a game drive? At Groote Post Vineyards, you don’t necessarily have to choose.

Set in the Darling Hills on the Cape West Coast, this historic estate brings together cool-climate w**es, country food, wildlife and more than two centuries of history.

Start in the cellar with a tasting of six Groote Post w**es, perhaps with a cheese and charcuterie board alongside. Then head outdoors for a completely different perspective on the farm.

A guided 4x4 game drive takes you through Groote Post’s 2,000-hectare game camp, where you could spot giraffe, zebra, eland, kudu, gemsbok, bontebok, springbok and ostriches. Along the way, there’s a w**e and cheese stop with views stretching towards the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain.

Back at the farm, settle in for lunch at Hilda’s Kitchen, pack a picnic for the lawns, follow the self-guided nature trail or spend some time at the bird hide overlooking the Klawervlei dam. Little travellers have their own outdoor play area, and four-legged companions are welcome too.

And if you’re planning an October visit, the Groote Post Country Market takes place on the last Sunday of the month, bringing local food, makers, crafts and live music to the estate.

W**e, olives, open-fire cooking or a night among the olive groves. Where would you start?

Set between Paarl and Franschhoek, Olijvenkraal Olive & W**e Estate is a working farm where there’s much more to explore than a traditional w**e tasting.

Start with the estate’s limited-production w**es, including Malbec, Shiraz and Touriga Nacional, alongside extra virgin olive oil produced from olives grown on the farm.

Then there’s lunch. At FYRE Dining, South African flavours meet open-fire cooking, with dishes prepared over wood and glowing coals. Choose a table inside or head outdoors to the terrace, where mountain views, lawns and the estate’s wandering peacocks become part of the afternoon.

Not ready to leave? You don’t have to. Olijvenkraal offers luxury suites as well as private pods tucked among the olive groves, complete with features such as fireplaces, private decks and plunge pools. Around the estate, you may even spot sable, gemsbok and springbok roaming the grounds.

It’s also become a beautiful setting for weddings and celebrations, with spaces stretching from contemporary interiors to ceremonies beneath the olive trees.

What happens when you take sight out of a w**e tasting?

This October, Nederburg W**es is inviting guests to experience w**e a little differently with Uncharted, an immersive Dinner of Discovery that puts your other senses to work.

Blindfolded and wearing individual headsets, guests are taken through three South African landscapes using sound, scent, touch and taste. A crashing coastline, an unexpected aroma or something placed in your hand becomes part of the journey, with each landscape eventually leading to a mystery w**e.

Once the blindfolds come off, the experience continues around the table with a three-course dinner by Nederburg Head Chef Llewellyn Solomons, inspired by the landscapes and flavours explored during the tasting.

Uncharted takes place at Nederburg W**e Estate in Paarl on 9 and 10 October 2026. Guests arrive at 18:30, with the experience beginning at 19:00. Tickets are R795 per person and advance booking is essential.

Thursday nights are pizza nights at Kalmoesfontein.

What began as a small community get-together has become one of the farm’s much-loved weekly traditions, bringing people together around wood-fired pizza, AA Badenhorst Family W**es and the wonderfully laid-back atmosphere of the Swartland.

Every Thursday evening, the oven is fired up and just 60 pizzas are made. The dough is slow-fermented, the pizzas are prepared in small batches and seasonal ingredients from the farm find their way onto the menu alongside favourites like the Kalmoesfontein Special with anchovies, red onion and homegrown capers.

And really, that’s the charm of it. Find a seat, order a bottle of w**e, share a few pizzas around the table and settle into an evening on the farm.

Pizza Nights run from 18:00 to 21:00 and are strictly by reservation, so booking ahead is essential.

If you’d rather not make the drive home afterwards, Kalmoesfontein also has self-catering cottages on the farm, which sounds like a pretty good excuse to turn Thursday night pizza into a Swartland getaway.

A new chapter has opened at Beyerskloof .

Following a multi-month transformation, Beyerskloof W**e Estate officially reopened its doors on 17 September, unveiling an elevated new way to experience one of Stellenbosch’s most iconic w**e estates.

At the heart of the transformation is The Restaurant at Beyerskloof, where contemporary South African cooking meets the art of open-fire cooking.
