Faces of Lesotho - Driving the Roof of Africa

It's been on your doorstep your whole life. And chances are, you've never really seen it.

Lesotho. The Mountain Kingdom. A country higher in altitude than Tibet, home to a world record waterfall, cave dwellings still inhabited today, and dinosaur footprints preserved in ancient sandstone. It’s only 800 km from Johannesburg - yet most people drive right past it

We've changed that.

On this guided self-drive 4x4 tour, Live the Journey takes you deep into the heart of a country that has quietly been extraordinary all along. Cross more than 30 mountain passes, some rising above 3 000 m. Discover San rock art and the mountain stronghold of a king who once held off entire armies. Tackle 11 dramatic switchbacks on Africa’s most iconic gravel pass, rewarded at the top with a cold drink at the Highest Pub in Africa. And journey to a waterfall holding a Guinness World Record, hidden in a valley few travellers have ever heard of.

Your guide is Philip Rawlins: a man with an intimate knowledge of every hidden gem this kingdom holds. He’s explored Lesotho many times, and still can’t get enough of it.

Two departures. Limited seats.
📅 30 March – 09 April 2027

There's a place in Namibia where your phone has no signal, the dunes stretch further than you can see, and the only agenda is the horizon ahead.

This is why you should book!
For six days, the Lüderitz to Walvis Bay desert trail takes you through one of the most remote and untouched stretches of coastline on earth. No roads. No crowds. Just your 4x4, a sky full of stars, and a landscape that has barely changed since diamond prospectors abandoned it a century ago.

You camp where the desert meets the ocean. You wake up to silence. You drive dunes that get bigger every single day.

Two chances left in 2026 to make this happen:
🗓️ 21 - 27 September 2026
🗓️ 31 December 2026 - 6 January 2027
Yes, that second one means you disappear into the Namib for New Year's Eve and wake up on January 1st with sand between your toes and not a notification in sight.

From R18,880 per adult (SADC). Limited vehicles per departure.

Three trails. One unforgettable destination. Welcome to Wupperthal, the jewel of the Cederberg.

Wupperthal is a place where time stands still, dramatic rock formations, amber valleys, ancient fynbos, rooibos and warm communities that will stay with you long after you've unlaced your boots. And now, there are three ways to experience it all.

Wupperthal66 - 4 nights | 66 km
Our original trail. Four days of immersive slack-packing through secret footpaths, perennial rivers, and the breathtaking Ereboog arch. Wild camping in some of the most remote spots in the Western Cape. This is where the journey truly begins.
📅 14 - 18 Sep 2026 | From R13,900 pp

Wupperthal100 - 6 nights | 100 km
The full Cederberg experience. Combining the Cedar Trail and the Wupperthal66 route, this 7-day adventure takes you through terrain no hiker has accessed before. Rock paintings, cedar trees, hidden swimming pools, and a finale at Wupperthal's historic church, complete with a brass band.
📅 30 Aug - 5 Sep 2026 | From R17,900 pp

Wupperthal Cedar Trail - 4 nights | 50 km
Shorter distances, no less spectacular. This trail focuses on the area's extraordinary rock formations and rare cedar trees, and you'll even plant one yourself. A perfect introduction to Wupperthal, and family-friendly too.
📅 3 - 7 Oct 2026 | From R12,900 pp

Experience the heart of Wupperthal through its stories, music, and people. From the rhythm of the Rieldans to the sounds of the Brass band, every visit supports local community traditions, and thereby you assist in preserving a rich cultural heritage for future generations.

Every trail includes world-class support, all meals from arrival dinner to farewell lunch, local guides, logistics, and that signature Live the Journey warmth around the campfire each evening. 🔥

There's a Wupperthal hike for every level of adventurer. The only question is: which one is yours?

5 nights. 550 km. One desert that will change you.

The Namib is the world's oldest desert, and crossing it from east to west in your own 4x4 is an experience words can barely express.

On our Faces of the Namib tour, you'll navigate towering dunes over 150 m high through the Kuiseb Canyon, camp under the stars deep in the sand sea, walk past the ghostly wreck of the Eduard Bohlen stranded on a beach where sand has long swallowed the sea, and drive the legendary Langewand, one of only four places on Earth where massive dunes plunge straight into the ocean.

This isn't a game drive. It's a guided 4x4 self-drive adventure where you are behind the wheel, your skills grow with every dune, and your guides handle the rest, including two expertly prepared meals daily.

✅ Departures: 10 - 15 July 2026 | 17 - 22 December 2026 | 29 Dec - 3 Jan 2027
✅ From R18,600 per adult (SADC residents)
✅ Max 12 vehicles | Expert guides included

Few places on earth stop time quite like St Helena Island.

Rising out of the South Atlantic, this tiny volcanic outpost was once Napoleon's prison, a waypoint for East India Company ships, and a place of exile for Boer War prisoners and figures like Dinuzulu, and it's home to Jonathan, the oldest living land animal on earth at nearly 193 years old.

In January 2027, Live the Journey's own Jurgens and Karien Schoeman are taking a small group to discover it all. Eight days of layered history, dramatic coastlines, whale sharks (if you're lucky), some of the world's rarest coffee, and the kind of warmth you only find in a place that calls its people the Saints.

"It was a really excellent experience in a unique destination, well planned and fascinating." — Rodney & Clare Manicom, January 2026

Just you, the dunes, ancient shipwrecks, and 5 days you'll never forget.
